A Confession:

I get very smug satisfaction from voting "no" to a surrender vote that a raging/flaming teammate starts. It's even better when your teammates join your passive-aggression and it fails 1/4. It's always followed by: "GUYS WE HAVE NO CHANCE OF WINNING" "SURRENDER NOW OR I AFK!!!!!!!!!!"

We may be losing, but, hey, we still have a chance to piss off this salty guy! :D

It draws more ammo for the post-game report I was going to file anyway.

Sooo, what you're saying is that you're a giant asshole? Lol.

I'm split on this. On one hand, there are many games you can turn around if you all push together and focus. On the other hand, those same turnabouts usually take 15+ minutes to bring around, and then there's still the chance to lose.

Dedication to a match is cool and all, but staring at grayscale Summoner's Rift while the enemy Jinx laughs at your corpse is not my number one way to spend twenty minutes.

I vowed myself that I will never surrender after a game I did in Normals. I was Zilean, every lane in our team lost, they were at our nexus turrets fairly early game, and our Sion decided to troll rather than help. Eventually, I decided to have fun, after all it is a normal, its suppose to be for fun :D We were soloing baron, dancing in front of the enemy team's fountain, in the end, we won. We distracted the enemy team so much, that my friend, Zed, started to pick them off one by one. Not to mention in the final teamfight, I was spamming in /ALL "Cant Killean the Zilean" irraitating them to focus me while I have my ult :P Several Surrender Votes by our team of course, but never give up and have fun. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1718935038/39853717?tab=overview

I won't surrender if the one starting it is the Flamer/Feeder/Rager that caused us to lose in the first place. When i say feed i mean the 0-8 Singed top who kept complaining about Quinn and kept dying under her turret with nothing but mana items, then blaming it on something other than his own stupidity. If the one surrendering is one of the guys on our team doing well then i'll usually say yes (assuming he's not a jerk) because i don't want to cause someone to start raging or go on tilt if they're being decent.

I also do this. We are the heroes Gotham needs.

If you are legitamitly saying no because you think you can win then that's fine but if you are doing it just to piss off another player then you are just being an asshole

Sometimes, I like to ping a brush and tell my teammates its warded, even though I know it's not. Then I get to see them waste their sweeper on it and look around confused.

Bonus points if its the Jungler with Raptor Buff :3

I apologize publicly for my actions.

It is people like you that make bronze the awful place it is and you probably aren't surrendering when you're down two inhibs 4 drags a baron and 20 kills, then you create this toxic person who doesn't know how to quit and carries over their anger to the next 5. So please uninstall

In ARAM I'm surprised, even annoyed sometimes when people start surrendering. Sort of a 'why do you care that much?!?!? Its ARAM!' feeling. Yeah some matchups are just pointless for one team, but you can always find a way to have fun in that mode.

In normals I get the same sense as you because being salty is usually the only reason for anyone starting the vote anyway, so I tend to enjoy voting no. But I'll vote yes when team fights are so one sided its not even fun to lose, AND the other team is in our base. You can safely call the game over at that point.

Risurin2/11/2015, 5:22:35 PM3 votes

you could do that, or you could just jump into the next game because really who cares if you make a ragey random person in the internet a bit more miserable ?

What gets me is that if he afks and you lose, it's still the same result... not like he's really threatening anything.

TwoD2/11/2015, 4:30:06 AM2 votes

I would understand this from an unranked players, but if it is ranked it is better to just play another game.

agbudar2/11/2015, 11:53:09 PM2 votes

i vote no then win.

they still bitch and whine

calling out for reports saying that we shouldn't have won that game....

haters are gonna hate

This type of behavior just lowers you to their level. In my opinion you look worse honestly. You are essentially willing to actively and consciously expend energy to aggravate and provoke another person when the alternative action would be to simply walk away and move on with your life. This is a form of bullying. The person who is raging at the team and wants to surrender may be a jerk but has surrendered to their own weakness for anger. You made a conscious decision for revenge essentially. This is shallow.

Furthermore this type of behavior only continues to provoke more negative behavior. If you have ever wanted the community to be move positive but act in such a manner then you have no right to complain as you are actively contributing to the negative atmosphere. People want everyone else to change but take no personal responsibility for their own actions. If you want change you have to understand that the negativity as to stop somewhere. Someone has to stand up and be the bigger person and say "No, I'm not going to respond, I'm not going to sink to their level, I'm not going to let them get under my skin and affect my behavior". That's what's really happening too, you are letting this person win, you are letting them affect your behavior and change how you would have acted without their presence. They won, they got under your skin, they provoked you to retaliation which is what every rager wants most even if it angers them more.

Your confession (which is an exceptionally accurate term as a confession involves something you should be ashamed of having done) is not unique and I believe is a very common sentiment among a large part of the LOL community. That does not make it acceptable. It shows your own weakness and lack of emotional restraint and strength. Learn to be more self controlled, have more self respect, don't let these people change who you are. And if you can't do that, please just use the mute button.
