It's simple really.

This actually was not a standard thing. Wearing all black isn't very effective at hiding you. It makes you stand out, even at night. If an assassin was trying to be stealthy, he'd dress like everyone else and blend into the environment. If he wanted to camouflage himself, he'd wear something other than pure black. The black clothing stereotype comes from Japanese theater stagehands.
You know what's weird?
The number before 'buff shen' is 3. When I edit my post, it says '3. buff shen'
