Idea how to make players understand what they did wrong @Lyte

When players have been reported to the level of them reaching the tribunal, it's important they understand WHAT they did wrong, acknowledge it and not blame others and trying to deflect it.

I had an idea for that, how about they are forced to go through their own report-logs, and EXPLAIN what they did was wrong. They have to write and explain what they did, and then similar as the tribunal does it, people then can agree or disagree with it.

This would be a tribunal adaption of the thing many tribunal'D people does when asking in forum what they did wrong. And if they show they KNOW what they did wrong, most probably they will be going for a change. No one want to be the bad guy. I imagine this being part of the ban/warning process, and as a way for people to reflect and seriously take their time to invest themself into understanding WHAT they did wrong.

If they correctly explain what they did wrong, they either goes without punishment or get more leninent punishment, like chat restriction or whatnot.

Another way would be to show people videos to explain to them how to deal with frustration. Raging is a way people express their frustration, when frustration reaches a certain level people need to let out some steam. Raging is not a good way of doing it, since that affects others, if people could be taught a BETTER way of doing, that wont get them banned, it's much better for everyone.

tl;dr;

  • Force people to read their own reports and explain what they did wrong
  • Have the tribunal review their explanations
  • More leninent punishment if they can explain it correctly
  • Teach players new ways of letting their frustration out besides raging

I feel you have a good intention but do not understand that most ragers just have control issues.

I have 1 friend that has had his account temp banned and another that has been perma and on his second account. First off they have control issues. I literally mean when they are upset they lose control. They yell on head set, whine, and swear ( though that is not as bad as the first 2 and can be funny). They do not even understand how childish they sound. While they are doing this they are also typing there frustration out( bashing others).

The problem my 2 friends feel is they are trapped. They assume at this point you are trying to ruin there game and there is nothing they can do about it. After all how do you stop someone when they want to lose? Which i always find funny since there behavior is contradictory to there goal of winning at that point. But since they do not know the offending player they feel the worst about them. Then act out on this justification.

So you can not teach these players new ways of letting out there stress. They would literally have to stop being players first.

While I disagree with forcing them to read their own report logs, I do like the idea of officially declaring if they can explain what they did wrong their ban or punishment can be mitigated. You'd have to be careful about copy-paste responses, but other than that it would be nice imho.

"No one want to be the bad guy"

Have you met League of Legends community?

There's enough trolls here to guard all the bridges in the world.

You cannot analyze the psychology of someone when they are essentially anonymous. Why do I rage when I lose sometimes and others I am perfectly calm and realize its part of the game? The tribunal is a broken concept, as it does not weigh ALL the factors. The tribunal just hits the punish button and moves on to the next person most of the time.

What do you do when a player has a disorder? I know a few people and this includes myself, that are diagnosed with disorders, however the tribunal does not account for that. Sometimes I feel like a nut, and sometimes I do not. When I "lose control" and start raging, there is something that takes over that I simply can not control any longer. It does not just apply itself to a game here, but to everything I do. Yet again, the tribunal does not account for that. They only see that someone is being toxic, hit the punish button, and move on to the next case to punish.

Nowhere in this process is there essentially a justified rage exception. I have had plenty of games where someone is there literally to ruin the game for everyone else. Of course I am going to be the one that gets reported however because I will lose control and inevitably get drawn down to their level. Hell there was a game about a month ago that I was raging at a friend of mine because they were just having a horrible game and did not listen to what I was telling them. So the negativity bred more negativity and that made the game worse for everyone. My team had to deal with both me and my friend being off, and the other team basically just steamrolled us when it should not have been that way.

I could go on for about another few hundred pages, so when I finish that book you can all buy it.

I like the idea, but I doubt it would work. People are just naturally the way they are. Considering that not everyone that plays league is a kid imagine their response to having to sit there reading their report like a child telling their parent what they did wrong. NOBODY would do it. EVEN if they did do it they would just say what Riot wanted them to hear so they could go back to playing. Also, think about yourself playing. Everyone gets mad once and a while, maybe your jungler is camping top lane while their jungler is camping mid lane (your lane) and every time you go to tower they tower dive you and your jungler and bot lane refuse to help. Or maybe you had a bad day and someone makes a small little mistake that causes you to lose your perfect 7/0 status and double buffs. People get mad all the time. I'm definitely not defending the people in tribunal because most of them deserve the bans when I press that little punish button (atleast in my opinion). Lemme try and get back on topic... People rage, some people just rage to rage. They won't change just because someone is telling them they need to, and they certainly don't need lower punishments for explaining why they raged at someone.

Ill try to give you a comparison of how I see it... (hopefully someone doesn't get mad for me typing too much) THEORETICAL STORY A man has no money and he needs to pay the rent/mortgage before his family gets kicked out of their house and buy his family some food, because they have none. The man goes to the local bank and steals some money. He uses the money to buy food for his family and pay his house whatever. Now the police find out who stole the money and they get all the money back (from the grocery store and whoever has the money from the house) and the man is sent to court. Should the judge lower his sentence because it was for his family? If so, what if the money he stole was from one person, and that person really needed that money badly in some way or another (could be badly sick etc.)? Lastly, If that man was your father does that make it ok either? The way people respond to situations is unpredictable. Would making the guy that murdered someone justify why he killed that person ok?

I just noticed how much i wrote and sorry if u read all of that and i sounded stupid -.- i just feel that i should voice my opinion since it is a forum. The theoretical story was just incase you didnt get my point. Sorry if i went too crazy.
