Culture of League
Good evening ladies and gents,
I'm currently an Anthropology student and I have been given the task of conducting an ethnography (field project) and I have chosen to conduct mine on the community of League of Legends. I've been a member of LoL for about 3 years or so, but I haven't really been around the boards much, I mainly just get on to play. I'm only bronze so I only know how the players of that division act. My question for the silver and higher division players is this: Do you believe that the maturity and respect of your division is higher than that of divisions lower than yours? I know in bronze, we have our own kind of breed, some that are respectful and only communicate for the purpose of winning and of course you have the ragers who name call and degrade those who don't do as well. Another question I'd like to ask pertains to everyone in this community: Over the years since League of Legends has been created, do you believe that the community is gradually growing and influencing the outside culture? And my last question: Why do you play League? Or for those of you who stick around the boards more than playing, why?
I'd appreciate it if you plan on commenting, please be respectful and serious. You may converse amongst yourselves as well about these questions. Much appreciated everyone.
