What made you choose your main/only champion? Was it just op? Cool lore or art? Randomly found them? Also what made you stick with it? I'm personally wanting to focus on one or two champs for the new season and I'm working out who. Maybe zed and gp.

Ahri On the free rotation and I got her in ARAM. Was fun. Really fun. Like damn I couldn't stop playing her. And I didn't.

I thought he was funny for being on the Brazil tier list, then I found out about Pentakill and was sold.

Xerath

I loved his lore (the old one, for the actual one I'm waiting for the long writing) and his character, I've always liked characters which tap into omnipotence, after some games I also loved his kit both the old and the new one.

I used to main udyr, and that was because i liked watching trick2g, and i happened to be good at jungling.

At the current moment, i main yasuo because i feel like he gives me the most options out of any champ.

Kennen I started playing League 5 months ago. I went into a game against this random ninja thing. I never seen him before, but he was rekting everyone. I was talking to him in all chat, and he said that he was a Kennen main. So after the game I was like "Wow, this Kennen main did good with Kennen. I must buy Kennen, and be as good as him. I never seen a cute yordle being OP and that was my motive. After buying him I vowed to main Yordles with the occasional Thresh. I mostly play Lulu Poppy Kennen Amumu and Thresh . 80% of them are Yordles

Ekko . He has a slow and a stun, shield, mobility, and a get out of jail free card that heals him and deals massive AoE damage. Zed mains: evil people. Gangplank mains: people who feed. (My preferences)

Syndra Diana Apparently I like to stick in crazy.

As for Syndra herself, she is my one, true and only main. Second champion I got. Basically what I did upon starting the game was buying Cho'Gath, whom I played in free rotation and after that I was saving up all the IP. Took like whole day searching through wikia then I got struck by that gorgeous face in the icon.

First splash art. Pretty cool. Then abilities. Looks great. Backstory. Wonderful. Then on top of all the above I checked the login screen and music theme. Well... http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6d28ghvZl1r2ay6r.gif

As if that all wasn't enough I soon learned I can take on nearly every other champion and win.

Great responses. It's interesting to hear these stories.

Swain: Swain

He is a tanky mage who is mean and punishing if he gets a lead. He has good damage, not too squishy, fits my play style, nice cc, healing ult, and can go mid or top. I really like ravens/crows too, I used to main fiddle, and his idea of General/Leader/Tactitian is like me irl. He has kinda cool character and no one plays him so I feel more unique.

Lissandra I have a thing for anything icy and blue. Originally, I used to play Anivia a lot, however she just wasn't my cup of tea. When the Freljord event came I wasn't really into the game at the time, so when I saw her and didn't really think much of her and she remained obscure to my awareness for about a year. On that year however, I decided to look through the Wiki and read up some champion lore, and I fell in love. The quotes, the awesome back story and slick as hell model. I was baffled to how I missed this the first time around, but needless to say, there isn't anything that will stop me from jumping into a game with her.

Years ago, when I first started playing, I mained AP Sion. The mechanics were easy, the cheese was real, and opponents had no idea what to do against me because many were not aware Sion existed at all.

Then he got reworked and I was sad.

Then I picked up Gangplank. Not very complicated mechanics, the crit chance rune level 1 cheese was real, and opponents had no idea what to do against me because many were not aware GP existed at all.

Then he got reworked and I was sad.

Then I took to playing bruiser Mordekaiser. Not very complicated mechanics, the E spam huge damage much shield cheese was real, and opponents had no idea what to do against me because many were not aware Morde existed at all.

Then he got reworked and I was sad.

Then I started playing a lot of Poppy in Dominon. Not very complicated mechanics, the wall slam Q combo took 3/4ths of your HP cheese was real, and opponents had no idea what to do against me because many were not aware Poppy existed at all.

Then she got reworked and I was sad.

So I've given up on maining a champion. I'm just tired of losing my main.

Yasuo

Before I started playing two years ago, I was looking at both League and DOTA 2. My choice came down to the fact that I liked League's visual design and not DOTA 2's, but more specifically, that I found out that Yasuo was a thing.

When I saw that champion's spotlight, I immediately knew I wanted to play him. Everything about him clicked even before I installed the game. Thus, I sunk $15 into League on hour 1 and Yasuo became the first champion I ever played, as well as the one I Learned the game through.

It was not an easy ride, but now I've got 400 or so games played on Yasuo and he's still my favorite thing about this game.

Taric the Gay1/9/2016, 8:45:51 PM1 votes

Because gems.

Actually no, this is a smurf account. I made this account to teach a friend how to play the game. My friend is new and I find it appalling when newbie players have to match up against smurf players, but with me right beside him that would be hypocritical. So I purposely handicapped myself by picking the weakest role (support) and the weakest champion in that role (Taric) and then proceed to play the game with these handicaps. My carrying potential is very low but I can atleast even out the score enough that my friend had to learn to step up instead of me bailing him out all the time and he is a better player for it. We don't always win but my presence helps neutralize/diminish the smurf factor in the early stages of the game for him as well as gives him the opportunities to improve on his game play. My friend gets better, I can beat up on smurfs who think they can steam roll newbie players, its a win/win.

Don't have any mains per se these days both because of how infrequently I am able to play and because I like to cycle through champions a lot for specific niches as a support player, but in the past:

I actually have a penchant for kind of horribly oppressive champion designs, as opposed to what my support style otherwise tends to be.

Urgot was the first champion in league that really struck at my heart strings. I'm talking maybe a few months after he was released Urgot. The one who truly transitioned from a monstrous early game carry in lane to a late game soul-crushing bruiser tank. There were few people who really appreciated just what you did with a champion like Urgot back then, but I knew that the correct way to play him was this: You chose one enemy and concentrated all your efforts on making their life miserable forever.

Everything in terms of the feel of the champion that I enjoyed has been neutered since, so I no longer play him.

In the future when I can consistently play more often I plan to play a ton of Bard because I have never had more fun playing a champion than with him. The sheer joy of magical voyaging around the map, tossing your ultimate to corral enemies into unfortunate situations and bopping a meep on someone every now and then is incomparable.

My friend told me Sejuani was trash tier and not worth learning. Challenge accepted. (I also have two pet mini pigs) 5k games makes a big difference:
