Things I Notice Players Do That Can Cause Losses

So I have been playing recently and instead of just immediately complaining about my teammates sucking i decided to just sit back and look at what they are doing. I was very surprised by how many things i noticed just myself doing wrong like "hey wtf was i doing going around this way instead of that" or "i should have gone for this person instead". This is going to sound bad and i do not recommend doing this often, but... stop caring... Yea... I got on today not caring whether i win or lose, i just wanted to look at the other players :I. Thats not to say i wasn't trying! I was absolutely trying to win, i just didn't let the outcome of everything effect me. These are some of the things i noticed.

  • Not Changing Your Strategy

This one is obvious, most people will not change their tactic for a long time if at all... Its surprising to see someone rush in time and time again only to fail the same way.

  • Leaving the Lane to Your Opponent

This one i notice a lot, win or lose most people will just leave lane and not return no matter how may times you ping for them to go back. Sometimes they will stay in anothers lane and just farm while their turret goes down. You may be thinking "this doesn't happen all that often" well it has happened in almost every game ive played this week. Someone leaves their lane and that lane is then pushed all the way to base, im not just talking about my team either. Ive done this several times, i bully the enemy out or they just leave for no reason and next thing they know ive taken 2 turrets.

  • Warding or lack thereof.

This one is pretty obvious but still worth a mention. Its one thing to know you are not warding enough, its another to sit back and pay attention to not only how many wards your team is place, where, and where your enemies are warding. I notice that people only ward where they are currently, its not often someone will ward aggressively or defensively for the team (other then at drag or baron). I also noticed the lack of Pink wards, there should always be 5 pinks out at all times, i know that and yet me and everyone else neglects to buy them. I rarely buy green wards to be honest, i just upgrade my trinket and go off that, but until then i rely on the trinket. A lot of people do the same thing as me, with the exception of Supports who are forced into getting a sightstone. The other issue with warding is when people are fighting someone who can go invisible. They never buy a pink or the scanner thing to counter the invisible dude, they just complain.

  • Never grouping.

This is a big one that loses the majority of my games and im guessing a lot of yours too. There is always that one guy off farming when teamfights keep happening, his/her response is always "dont teamfight with out me!". The proper response to that is "STOP LEAVING THE TEAM", yes farm is important but its not always your team starting a teamfight, sometimes the other team just engages. Also a lot of teamfights can be decided by someone getting caught out or a well placed CC, so it is a huge disadvantage to always be down 1 person. Im not guilt free either, sometimes i split-push when i should be teamighting, and sometimes im just farming and dont notice a teamfight.

  • Getting caught

The main deciding factor in a team fight is if someone got caught out beforehand. Its always because someone is running through an area that isn't warded or they were baited into engaging by themselves. This happens soooo often i pretty much expect it every time anyone goes into the jungle. The most often times i see this, and do this, is when my team is way ahead. Everyone gets cock, including myself, and we start getting caught out and throwing the game hard. This turns a game you basically won into a fight for your life, i have lost so many games due to this.

  • Objective Control

Man this one, this is the one that probably irritates me the most. This ranges from not taking turrets or dragon to not defending them or warding dragon. Sooo many times we win a teamfight or Ace them and everyone just backs to base to buy, instead of taking a turret or two. The team with better Objective Control almost always wins, so when i see my teammates ignore an almost dead turret in favor of a kill or a few minions i get a little heated. I also get mad when someone tries for Dragon with no vision of the enemy team or the surrounding area. I get even madder when said person continues to take dragon while the enemy team falls on us, then we all die and lose dragon. The most irritating thing though is when you win a teamfight and your team doesn't push, they all go back to buy. This not only doesn't really progress the game but it makes it take even longer. Long drawn out matches only give the enemy more chances to turn it into a win, you need to win a game as quick as possible so that doesn't happen. I always try to take turrets and that may be a problem on me, sometimes im so focused on turrets i dont see teamfights. Sometimes I dont notice the enemy coming up behind me, but at least i normally get a turret.

  • Criticizing Teammates

This one i am not that guilty of actually, i do not mean getting mad at or yelling at teammates. I mean actually taking the time to type out criticisms of your teammates while you are playing. This is the most ridiculous way to be toxic because not only are you insulting your teammates, which only is making them play worse, but you are playing worse because you are spending far too much time watching them and typing. Your top lane lost? Play better in your lane to compensate! Dont sit their typing out your everlasting hate of them and making them feel worse then they already do for losing. Spend less time typing and more time playing, if you are a toxic person and want to know how to be less toxic then just stop typing. There is not really a way to be less toxic, but there is a way for it not to effect other people. Also to those who are the victim of this just hit the Mute button, it will help you more then you know.

  • Giving Up Before the Game is Over

Not surrendering, sometimes a game is done, im talking literally giving up and just feeding or walking in circles. This happens very often and as early as First Blood. SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE THE FIRST KILL just because it was your teammate does not mean the game is over. Again im sure you're thinking "oh come on this never happens" but it does! Around 10-15 min into the game is where i see most people give up entirely, they literally are just waiting for 20 minutes so they can spam surrender until we all accept, in the meantime they are feeding on purpose or just straight AFK. Someone needs to be losing, its how competition works, there needs to be someone losing and someone winning... Just because you are losing does not mean you cant start winning though and vice versa. IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM! What are we doing wrong? What am I doing wrong? How can we/I fix it? This is what i have been trying to do recently, unfortunately I am failing quite often, but i am trying and i feel that soon i will be able to do it all the time. If everyone could just stop and think hard on the situation then im sure there would be more people in higher ELO's.

  • Not Having Fun

It seems the majority of his community has forgotten what League of Legends is. It is a game. Plain and simple, nothing more and nothing less. Its sole purpose is for the enjoyment of its players, if you are not having fun you are doing it wrong. I dare you to prove me wrong, because you can't. The one and only purpose of all games is to be fun for the player, whether it challenges you, engages you, tells you a story, whatever it all boils down to it being fun. Even Ranked, that is always meant to be fun. Fun for those who enjoy testing how their skills rank up against other players, how their best compares to others best. It is meant to be fun for people who enjoy that, and most everyone forgets this. Yes losing is not all that fun, its hard to feel like you are having fun when you are losing, specially when you lose a lot. That doesn't mean you should let it get to you, this is where i have the most and least problem. Sometimes i care so little about whether i win or lose i dont have fun doing either, sometimes i care so much about winning and losing i go to the extremes of both happy and mad. Its hard to find a balance where i can still enjoy a win and shrug off a loss and try to learn from it.

Anyways these are just some things i notice myself and others doing, there are a few more points i wanted to make like not flipping out when someone goes outside the meta or not assuming everyone knows what you are doing, but i dont feel like those need to be said for various reasons. I hope this helped someone, i hope someone can look at this and start to notice these things not only in their teammates but in themselves as well. This post is more about yourself and myself then your/my teammates, because this is a team game and even if your team is not as good as you there is always something you could have done differently.
