Remember when we could see other people's pings in the loading screen?

Yea...

Also remember when East Coast NA was going to get ping help?

It's nearing 2015, and this problem has still been swept under the rug. And, no, moving the server up the road in LA isn't going to help the majority of players in NA. There needs to be another one at this point. Even moving operations to central won't be good enough at this point with how large the playerbase is.

[Note: this thread was previously deleted by riot in the gameplay subforum, because apparently high ping has nothing to do with gameplay]

I moved to LAN 3 months ago. 62 ping. I live in michigan. Fuck NA =] Riot doesn't care unless it earns them money or esports publicity.

I dont think showing ping is a good idea in that it shows who to harass based on worst connection.

Gorsz12/10/2014, 8:09:56 PM3 votes

I was called a conspiracy theorist for claiming Riot hid the pings to sweep their ping failures under the rug. Ever since they were removed ping started raising for everyone not on the west coast over a period of time.

Didn't Riot say that they might move the NA servers to Chicago?

NotDevan12/10/2014, 6:02:14 AM3 votes

But they did fix it.

In season 2 good ping (denoted by the color green) was up to ~120. Now it's up through ~250 before it starts to turn yellow indicating decayed performance.

Clearly this change tricked everyone into thinking that 200+ Ping is no problem.

I recall them saying they plan to do something about how traffic reaches the servers to help make ping more steady in early 2015, with a more specific plan about east coast later in the year.

But with the long list of things that haven't been done or have been done to a subpar level with excuses abound, my hopes aren't high.

Has anyone else been having micro lags in games and also when trying to log in and checking peoples' profiles? It's been going for me for a few days now. Please let me know.

Vaypoure12/10/2014, 6:42:44 AM2 votes

I've had a decent uptick in lag since about 3 or 4 patches ago. I would normally have 98-115 ping with a high at 130, now it's 120-145 with a high around 180.

Open the Japan server so I can finally experience low ping Riot.

They've stated only a few months ago that they have a multistep plan for improving things. It wont just happen over night. Be patient.

I'm around 90-110 US East as well

Riot says they take pride in offering a free game and not seeming like they aren't money hungry. However, they try too hard to not seem money hungry but implement these policies to make them so hypocritical. They keep on adding bigger tasks that they cant handle with the 'little man power' and brush off their previous tasks to the smaller groups further delaying their tasks. Then state that since they 'arent money hungry' they have little work force while reaping profits in significant proportions.

Well, I'm in Florida and my average ping is 98. Lowest I've ever gotten was 90. It's not awful, for the most part. Most of my issues come from my ISP refusing to lay new cables to replace the 10y/o ones. I also have a couple friends in Texas who have pings ranging from 20 - 60, so it's not a huge difference.

I'm kind of curious as to what your average ping is though. :P

Lordofthepittt12/11/2014, 2:47:28 AM1 votes

I'm in southwest Virginia, and my ping is never below 95. And its at 95 very very rarely. I usually sit at 100-105. And it does make a difference. I have noticed the lag in what I try to do. Its very slight, but when I try to last hit a minion while under turret, it will sometimes take the animation a good 1/3 of a second to finish, and often times I end up missing the minion because of that.

120-140 east coast :D

Well, I play NA from China and my ping is 180-200.... I don't really see the difference... My friends are silver and I have a Gold account, so I don't think it affects the gameplay at all...

If i went to LAN where I live, I would probably get 20 ping. I get 50 on PBE, but 80-115 on live. I say they go with the LCS and put 1 server in every major teams' city.

warpenguin55512/10/2014, 4:30:19 PM1 votes

im either doing fine with my 82 ping or cant move/ forced to farm under tower with my 600-1140 ping.

i also used to get extremely bad ping around 5 PM my time, which is now replaced with what i have put above :(

PsyFi Samurai12/10/2014, 4:47:26 PM1 votes

That's not true. I've experienced a 20ms ping drop, putting me at a steady and comfortable 95 ping. I've also played on LAN with ~50 ping and to be honest the only real advantage I see to it is being able to last hit better.

slippykitten12/10/2014, 5:11:19 PM1 votes

The problem is that you guys say "i'll just go lan then" instead of saying "im not playing or logging on at all until it is fixed".

As long as you are logging on and playing, they wont give two hairy craps about your complaints.

New Hampshire, usually 96 - 105 ping. My internet provider is a joke to say the least
