Season 6 rank drop

So last season I was Plat 4 yay me. This season I went 8/2 in my placements, felt great thought it was a super solid set of placements. That is until the game decided I need to be placed in SILVER 2.

Like how? Why?

In what way is this even a thing? I did the work to get out of this miserable rank last season and I did the work to get a decent ratio for this season so why am I so low? I could understand maybe gold 5 maybe. Thats a decent drop to work back from. But Silver 2? thats like saying hey you were good but now you are pretty much near bottom tier. It seriously is a huge slap in the face.
