I have to decide between two laptops so far.

ASUS ROG GL551JW-WH71(WX) Gaming Laptop 4th Generation Intel Core i7 4720HQ (2.60 GHz) 8 GB Memory 1 TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 2 GB GDDR5 15.6" Windows 10 Home 64-Bit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?sdtid=0&SID=0d0a2a3e94c811e5b835267225ee24320000&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16834232848&cm_sp=

or

MSI GE Series GE72 Apache-264 Gaming Laptop 4th Generation Intel Core i7 4720HQ (2.60 GHz) 12 GB Memory 1 TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 2 GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 8.1 64-Bit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152925

both of them are going to cost me around 680 dollars (because of blackfriday sales etc) which i think is a good deal. So please help me decide which is better. I know probably specs wise the MSI is definally better but i have never heard of that company and am very scared about it also the screen is 17.3 and i like big screen but am not sure if i will like it that big or not. I rarely take my laptop places (but still do sometimes) usually i use it on my bed to play games or watch things....Also i already have a pc but after sitting on my desk job all day i literally cant stand to sit at home and just want to be in my bed.

Thank you guyz...i really want to make the right choice and hopefully a laptop that runs for couple years..

I would personally say go more MSI, it is well known....sure its not as big as Asus, but they aren't some random shady company, they make laptops and computer parts(like motherboards, video cards etc. and pretty good ones too).

17 inches will make it a little bit more heavier and bulky to use(although I personally prefer 17 over 15, I have both.). Gaming wise, you won't see any difference based on those specs.

Also, MSI is offering a faster HDD (for the application you described)

I can help but it's not the help you want.

which i think is a good deal.

You aren't getting a good deal. Companies throw the term gaming around all the time but it is just as marketing term because they know they can get people to spend more money on things just by writing "Gaming" on the box. And here, they are selling these as "gaming laptops" to distract you from these computers not being worth your money; you'll spend a lot but you won't get a lot. They are a combination of a few mismatched good parts to advertise to you because they sound impressive and a lot of cheap s^*@ which comes together to form a package that is worth much less than what you would pay for, it even on sale, and would not be great for gaming anyway.
