How does a player improve

Kind of a random question but do you think a player can improve by playing with people lower skilled then them. What about players with similar skill? Also is playing normals before your first ranked game of the day a wise thing to do. What do you think is the key for a player's improvement in each elo

Hey SO5!

Great discussion you have here! :D

I would recommend not playing with people a lot lower than you in terms of skill. You can play with people within a certain range, say one or two divisions, but playing with people multiple tiers below you does nothing to help your own skill. The only way to really grow in skill is repetitive competition with equal or more skilled players. (e.g. Huzzygames says this every year in his Unranked to Diamond series).

A general rule for every competition is to warm up before a match. Be it baseball, tennis, or competitive video games; you stretch before you start running. The way you warm up before ranked, however, is up to you. Most people will play a few normal games, bot games, or set up a custom game and warm up cs-ing. Whatever works for you in order that you're in a mental and physical state ready to play ranked. (I listen to music to get ready and go through a quick stretch/yoga while in ranked queue).

As for improvement in each elo: this varies greatly. There are a number of videos on youtube referencing different things players in each elo need to do to climb. Historically, the best tips have been: main a select group of champions in each role (about 2 or 3 champs you play very well); be aware of the patches/read patch notes; and play the game on your terms (have fun). By using these tips, i've climbed from Bronze 3 to my current promos to Silver 4.

Honestly don't expect an easy and fast climb to your ranks. Play with friends, be better as a teammate and player in game. I do believe if you can play with lower elo player and win or lose, it will help you be better by improving you skills and learning from the mistakes of what not to do from those "not doing well"

Keep playing honestly, win or lose, practice as much as you can and don't take it seriously.

If you are taking it seriously, play with friends , solo que is a bitch, your going to be rolling the dice for each player with and against you. and its not fun when your ally trolls, AFK or disconnect.

if you have time, but enjoy the game, play bot for your first win, 200ip at most for 20-30min game, its lame, but it'll boost you moral IMO

You can if you pay attention to every judgement you make

Develop a good strategy each game

I got better playing in bot games. If you only play bots and don't cheese the bots you can actually ensure you never get put into bronze. Just try new champs in there all the time and the knowledge you gain from playing new stuff will make you better.

After that ARAM and normals. Ranked is good for when you can hold your own against gold teams.

Being willing to change. Notice your mistakes in certain situations and look for something repetitive that doesn't end up in your favor and try to change it or try something different to make it better. Don't know what exactly? I recommend watching YouTube videos. Or, you can try to improve on something specific like a champion, and learn to beat a counter that you may have (not all champion counters are 100% unbeatable, some are extremely hard to deal with, others it just depends on how you perform). Play something you like, stick to it, be willing to learn from other people's advice, game play, mechanics, and their mistakes.
