Riot's reasoning was that they didnt want to Split the community (despite the fact that they could still have 2 different servers and still have it connected to their main one. I think its the way Dota handles their server, but i never played it) I can somewhat understand that reasoning, but the fact of the matter is people are being disconnected from their game, or have such a high lag/ping when playing that its just irritating. if it even means splitting the community then so be it if it means we can all play fine.
Especially with the recent moving of the servers im from Hawaii so we got hit hard went from an Average 100 ping, to 120. And while its not too bad, i know some people here who got it really bad that they cant play anymore. But to be fair there are more people on the East Coast than Hawaii (and i think Alaska got hit pretty hard as well) so its understandable to try and fix potential buyers and have them be able to play the game than us.
Hopefully one day they finally get their act together, but i find that highly unlikely. i mean they need that money for E-sport. how else will they get to rent out a huge Stadium, and fly out all the people they need to attend these Tournaments?
