[Discussion]: Invisible Upvotes

What could happen if the upvote count of posts were invisible? Like, you can upvote, thread sort like hot and best are still functional, but you don' t see the vote. Same thing for comments.

The reason i am asking to discuss about this is because the boards can be quite aggressive if a minority that gathers around a thread downvotes hatefully someone because they do not agree, and this helps creating an "echo chamber" as it is called and makes a lot of people less prone to not talk about stuff that is unpopular on boards.

I can see some flaws in this, like having less feedback from upvotes and so on, but this could be worked around ( maybe make it only time-hidden, or make it so the poster can see the upvote count?). i am not proposing anything, just want to discuss this case.

Thoughts?
