It's not you... it's me (getting out of Silver to Gold in a month)

UPDATE! I MADE IT!

I'm writing this to tell you that it's totally possible.

I've had months of play where I've made it from Silver 5 to Silver 2 and then back down to Silver 5 lately. It was bad enough that I was going to stop playing ranked all together and then I thought... you know what? I'm just going to stop trying to hard and just play for fun and focus on the basics.

As soon as I did that I started to win like crazy. I really enjoy playing Warwick (on dat URF skin) and I started to build feral flare, Wit's end, Frozen Heart, Spirit Visage, Randuin's and boots. I max Q and E but start with W. This makes me a monster in the Jungle and I'm able to do a large amount of burst with my Q and on hit with my ult.

ANYWAY!

That's not what made me start doing better. What did make me start doing better was a few things that I want to share.

**Attitude: ** Leavers, AFKS, and players with less skill than yourself are going to be in games and there isn't much you can do about it. The best thing you CAN do is stay positive and encourage your team to work together and give it your best shot. You will win some and lose some but more often than not we won. This happened countless times, even if we were 4 v 5.

Better teamwork = better games every single time.

Warding / Counter Warding: I started to really focus on grabbing a ward when I had room and clearing wards for my lanes so I could gank with ease. I also focused on encourage EVERYONE on the team to ward and counter ward. This worked VERY well and most people were receptive to the idea.

**Mechanics: ** I've been around since Beta and the best way to really nail down mechanics is just experience. You start to know what the animation looks like for a enemy ult or ability and can react in a way that sides in your favor. This one is a bit harder to learn but totally possible.

Champion / Item ADHD: This is part of what helped me the most I think. I really tried to stick to two roles and 4 champions. Almost 100% of the time I've been able to get Warwick but sometimes I get bored and want to mix it up. I tend to play whatever I feel like as I can do any role/champ but that was getting me lackluster movement in ranked. Once I picked a few champions and got pretty damn good at them I started to do much better.

Also, not being afraid to change your build a little bit based on what synergy the team has and on the picks/items the enemy team has is good idea.

**Persistence: ** Not giving up. I had games where we had no towers, and they had 6 of ours and I was able to encourage the team to try a plan and stick to it and we came back and won. One such time was to have them distract mid while I tried to solo baron. It worked and we won.

Another time our enemy team had 3 high damage and high mobility champions that were just wrecking us. We split up and focused all 3 at the same time - specific champs to specific champs and ended up winning fights and the game.

Flexibility: You have to adapt and be flexible in order to learn, grow and be a better player.

I don't know if this helps encourage anyone to keep at it and get that LP but I wanted to share anyway.

I'm Silver 1 right now and hope to be gold in a couple days.

First off all, I really believe that there is always something I could have done to make the game better. I never go around insulting, blaming others in game chat. I have hyper map awareness, and play super safely, no risk, objective only kind of mindset. I also understand strategy, and can estimate damage very well. I don't think that giving sound advise would fix the problem.

There is always the case where I get matched up with trolls, toxic players, and end up with spontaneous afk/dc players when the game starts, but I am not here to complain about that. There are also low gold elo hell trolls, who have hit gold and have nothing too lose when they lose anymore, they don't play as seriously as people 1 tier below them.

I'm always in the impossible situation where I win my lane hard, ward, get objectives, help losing lanes, turtle when needed, not throwing at baron, but it still ends up in a loss because at this skill level it seems people don't always understand the concept of objectives. There is no point sticking around mid when there is nothing to take there. They always go on wild goose chases and end up throwing our lead.

Also I have a crass opinion that people really can't ban, pick team comps, or counter pick at this skill level. 4

Now to get too the number problem with getting out of silver I.

To get out of Silver I I will need 8 consecutive wins If I lose a game I have to do more to make up the LP of an equivalent 8 games. My win rate has been hovering around 53%. Which is slightly above average. 50% being perfectly average.

The problem being that the probability of having the probability of having a troll, toxic, afk/dc, is rather high in my opinion.

Even without obstacles, statistically the team that is opposing you is supposedly the same skill level, if it is a completely even game, with fair bans and match ups, it sits at 50%. You are not guaranteed to win the game, but the game is so even I would not mind losing because it was a very fun game.

p(win|fairevengame)^8 = .5^8 = .004 for a perfectly average game. Though this is an incomplete statistics problem because it does not solve the probability of getting 8 consecutive wins.

It gets even lower given that getting some kind of trollish obstacle is really high for me. I know I will get their eventually, but it really frustrating when all the LP is accumulated is lost, and I have to start all over again. The odds are stacked against me in this game.

Yep! I enjoy using his ult to shut down someone else's. URF will be my key to Gold!

You're almost like a Silver 1 version of me lol, except I usually have 2-3 jungle champs I main. As a bronzie who's not really into ranked yet, this gives me some hope since I try to be positive and buy wards. One question I have is how do you deal with pre-6 in general? I know Warwick's ganks are pretty bad until 6 and I try to avoid interfering unless the situation is desperate or the enemy chases/overextends very deep (and I have to focus on farming if i'm building flare), but sometimes early enemy ganks could impact team morale and cause teammates to "blame the jungler", even if I was at the other side of the map or getting a needed blue buff. If I make good ganks ~L.6-9, things usually get better though (happens pretty often). Also, how do you deal with a game where the enemy team snowballs really early on? I know it's always good to gank isolated opponents (especially with WW) and ward, but what if the enemy team is already grouping before flare is finished and they steal your jungle camps? I have yet another question, but why do you pick Frozen Heart over Sunfire Cape? Anyways, good luck with your gold promos!

Agree with everything you said! Warwick is a very strong champ who relies on your own game knowledge of damages and jungling to win, his kit takes care of the rest

Unfortunately, some people like to bring massive negativity into a game instead of actually playing and doing their best. This happens way too often and can be really annoying. Soldiering through people like this and giving it your best shot at winning anyways is the best way to deal with them. summoner 4

Season 3, I muted everyone and played 160 games as sona to get to plat V. I was fine with that so I stop playing ranked. I believe in the 1 trick ponies. But for real, attitude and champion familiarization (even if it is just 1 champ) will get you really far in ranked.

I tell people right away when the game starts, ward/guard red and leash blue please. I'm going for enemy red right after blue. I'm not really able to gank until 6 so please play passive and ward/counter ward.

How I start out:

OK, with practice I find that I'm usually level 6 before the 7 minute mark and sometimes before the 6 minute mark.

What I do is start out at my blue, smite first thing with my team leashing and then move right over to the enemy red warding outside of the brush in the direction they will be coming.

I walk the Red into the brush so they can't just walk in view and smite it.

Once I do that I move right to my red knowing they will usually try to come get it. This isn't a total waste of my red buff as it refreshes mine and gives me a ton of XP. Smite should be up in time for all of these.

Once I do that I try and gank whatever lane I end up in at that last red depending on the side you are at. Even if you don't actually get a kill it shows early game pressure and puts some fear into them. At this point I'm level 3 and with 2 points into Q you can take a good chunk of health in a swipe.

The other I do besides just ganking is if there is a chance to damage a tower or apply pressure by zoning for a few seconds I do that. Some people get pissed about trying to take a tower early but not having a tower in any lane that early opens it up where they have to over extend if your team plays passive.

I'm not saying any of this is the best method of doing things but it's my method.

If you want to check out my runes/masteries and stuff go to: http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=vakabiel

If the enemy team is grouping up early and starting to snowball I just try to push the other side of the map and force them to break apart to come get me.

If the enemy is taking my jungle I will cross over and take theirs as long as I'm warding good enough to have vision or viability on the opposing jungler. I try to make a trade for a trade if that makes sense.

Also, the way I move through the Jungle I try and take any minions as I pass through.

I build Frozen Heart over Sunfire because of the Attack Speed Debuff - it usually almost shuts down any jungler/adc right away.

By the time you have Wit's End and about 20 stacks on upgraded Feral you'll be 100-10%hp with just one ult typically on the squishier targets and then your scent/swipe will take care of the rest.
