Thoughts on permaban due to toxicity: it could be more productive simply to disable the chat instead

I mean, the punishment itself is not productive, as it will literally drive away players from league to other games, but you can argue it is a lose-lose situation for riot as in either case they lose players and ban is their final and dominant strategy.

But here I **propose an alternative **method to Riot that the punishment simply could be just to "disable the chat" for toxic players. The sounds the most reasonable form of punishment as it neither destroys the toxic players nor disrupt other players. One gets punished if one exhibits toxic behavior for a long time, I get that but those people who have spent more than a thousand dollars on Riot, and who, toxic as they might be, worked their ass off to carry the game in which teammates trolled so hard don't really deserve a ban. To me, it is work ethics if one is complaining in words while still working his/her ass off to win the game in action. I DON'T think permanent suspension is a productive, a cost-effective, and an ethical way of punishment, but I rather recommend to have their chat function disabled permanently. I hope Riot could listen to this, have people who had been previously permanently banned lifted and disabled their chat function instead. Please comment on my thoughts.

I want to make a different between being verbally toxic and actual trolling. I believe the former doesn't deserve a perma ban while the latter does. The highest form of punishment for being toxic should be just disabling the chat.

Disabling chat won't help as those flamers would continue to lose games for others and refuse to learn. I know Riot has taken stance "you cannot change others, thus it is your fault you get flamer in team and lose more games than wihtout him. Sucks to be you" -attitude.

Well someone who is so toxic that they get permanently banned has a chance of making someone quit the game entirely in every single game they play, and there are many ways to be toxic without using the chat. So economically it makes more sense to get rid of a player and lose 1 potential customer rather than keep that person and lose potentially countless ones.

i agree

permabans for chat are the most "toxic" thing about this game, not the "toxic" chats themselves

take something like wot/wows, you can say ridiculous stuff there and you likely will not even get a chat restriction and bans are basically unheard of... and people are ok with it there

I'm sorry, but this isn't politics. All players are held to the same standard, no matter how much money they've spent.

The mindset that paying players should be treated differently by a disciplinary system is utterly ridiculous.
