when is it acceptable to dodge VS unacceptable

starting off I personally don't like dodgeing matches, I have to wait again and others do to, however recently ive seen the need of dodging simply because of the {insert lane} or feed people and those that lock a lane despite being the last person to select a champion (regardless of the order we picked) so my question is it acceptable to dodge if you would otherwise be at a major disadvantage, such as the above examples and any others you can think of that might cause someone to dodge, nothing minor like oh they wont let me have mid so I'm dodgeing or anything that would directly put you as a player for the reason of your own dodge [slayer-jinx-catface]

I'd dodge only if i see i have a troll/incredibly toxic player in my team.

But that doesn't seem to be the same thought of most players here; last week i was in my last promo game (needed 1 win) when our mid laner turns out to be a troll, picks nasus and clearly states he's gonna feed the enemy LeBlanc. I couldn't dodge since i was in my last promo game so i asked the other 3 guys if one of them could dodge (none of them were in promo) and NO ONE did it. Even if they all knew we were gonna lose, people are too scared to lose 3 LPs, they prefer losing straight up 15 or 20 while also getting the MMR lowered.

I've only dodged twice in my time playing League(started around the time Darius was released). The first time, it was ARAM. I was pissed and salty as all out. I was raging internally at something and everything, and suddenly it clicked, "I should not play right now. I know the dodge'll suck for my teammates, but it'll suck even more if I blow up because I'm in a bad place."

The second time I dodged was really recently. I didn't want too, but we got into champ select, things were looking good... then outta nowhere I felt like I was going to simultaneously pass out and throw up. And so I dodged out because there was no way I was going to be physically capable, let alone in a good place mentally, to perform in that game.

I've never dodged to appease a troll, or a toxic person. I mute them if need be, and I play the game. If I lose, I lose. I report them after and hopefully the tribunal/riot deals with them. At the end of the day--even if it's a ranked game--it's still just a game. If I can't have fun playing, then why even play in the first place? I will not give in to the trolls, I don't have to win to enjoy the game. I can still learn something from that game. But, that's just my opinion. I doubt there's a lot of people who share that opinion, and that's fine.

Imo, in champ select you haven't really committed to the game, so for the most part it's fine to dodge. Sometimes, if I'm up late playing and queue for another game, I'll realize in select "Wait, I'm tired as fuck," and just dodge and go to sleep.

I think that your reason for dodging isn't important to anyone except yourself. You have the right to dodge for any reason whatsoever with the understanding of the penalty that you receive for dodging. In this sense, there is no such thing as an unacceptable dodge, because when you dodge you do so with the understanding of the penalty you will receive.

The magnitude of the reason is only important in the sense that you evaluate it to be worth the LP loss of the dodge or not. If not getting mid is worth the LP loss to you, then is it really a bad reason to dodge? I wouldn't dodge just because I didn't get mid, but that doesn't make it a bad decision for someone else.

It is always acceptable to dodge. If you think you should dodge, then go ahead. The only real penalty is a 5 minute wait to queue again. The minor loss of LP is entirely insignificant in the long run.
