Okay so i wanted some of the communities thoughts. Recently I played a match with my fives team. We are a group of friends in silver 3 ( Not the best but we try). As a team we have come to learn alot about our own play styles as well as our teammates. We have the main group that generally always plays and then we have alternates. Heres my question, My alt we will name bob feels that it is necessary for improvement to point out, in game, as errors occur the mistakes getting made. I feel this is destructive to the team environment sense its highlights a negative moment instead of boosting the good plays. I watch the pros and i dont feel like they discuss in game mistakes but i was wondering what the community thought? Is In game Criticism a Positive or Negative?

encourage an environment where u discuss the game after its over, talk about what went wrong and what went right. if u don't want him to feel singled out, give everyone the opportunity to criticize u first before moving on the the next person.

There's loads of people out there, and loads of different learning styles. Add to that the fact that some people are less sensitive to criticism than others and the answer you get is pretty much: it depends.

If anyone feels bad as a result of ingame criticisms, then you shouldn't have them in game. During the match is focus time, it's go time. And if criticisms get in the way of feeling focused and confident in your game play, then shifting criticisms out of matches will in itself improve performance. Besides, is an iota of improvement worth making someone feel bad in a game?

On the other hand, if it doesn't bother them, and having someone spot mistakes for them helps them focus on improving and doing well rather than second guessing themselves and watching their own moves for problem spots. Then, by all means, be their extra in-game eyes. Give them the backup they need to push forwards confidently.

That being said, league is a fast paced game and you will always miss mistakes while they're happening. You can't see everything and even if you could, you couldn't think about it all at once. So if your team wants to improve, a powerful tool will definitely be recording matches and going back through them both as a group and individually to find good things to repeat and suboptimal things to work out or replace with better things.

Hope this helps, GLHF

You should never criticise in game. It will only piss off the person and their play will suffer. Save it for after the game and make it constructive. People will take it better when they aren't in the "heat of the moment".
