RUNE and MASTERY interface update

So the outlay/interface/organization/programming for the RUNE/MASTERY pages both on the main page tab and in the game for selection.

Firstly, the actual rune outlay (going to focus on Runes primarily and then add something about Masteries at the end) and the runes themselves are okay, that's not what I am talking about here. Here's my simplistic breakdown of the Rune Page screen titled "Runes":

  1. Create new Rune page
  2. Sort Rune Types
  3. Save Rune configuration
  4. Undo Rune Changes
  5. Delete Rune page

and I guess that's mostly what you would need... I do want to make two suggestions for very easily implementable functions that will greatly assist any player. These two Rune Page functions are as follows; 1) Make each page "moveable" as in, I can drag my first rune page to the end of the list and have it scoot the second page to the first spot and as follows in my small example seen here - (1ad 2ap 3tank 4supp 5jung) -------> (Click and drag 1ad behind 5jung) ---->(1ap 2tank 3supp 4jung 5ad). This wouldn't be a button it would just make the tabs "unlocked" at the top, so that way you could swap em and move them and I think that you should be able to do the same with each stat in the statistics tab, that way you can organize them however you'd like to view them. 2) Delete all Rune Pages... simple, there's nothing in the Rune Page tab that would allow a player to wipe their runes completely, even though it might not be entirely necessary very often it's easy to make and will save some people a lot of frustration. I want this first function to exist so that I can group/organize my different rune types without having to remake entire pages every time (which I think is pretty self- explanatory . The second one is pretty self-explanatory too, say if you say start playing a lot of a different game modes or there's a patch with a lot of changes to runes and you have 20 rune pages like me, it would be nice to be able to remove all or even be able to click an individual box and delete multiple pages at once in the Runes tab. This is all about things being easy and fast so it doesn't seem super tedious and overwhelming to redo your Rune or mastery pages.

Same deal with the mastery tab I feel that you should be able to manipulate the positioning of each page you've created without having to clear the whole tree and replace the points and then rename it to give it a certain position in the scrolling menu. Which is where my biggest concern lies and what brings me to my second discussion point. The select screen and the Rune and Masteries menus.

Alright so, does anyone else have this issue? I mean, I have 20 rune pages and 20 mastery pages, that means that I am looking at 20 rectangular boxes with titles sometimes with only 10 seconds, depending on pick-order/game mode and I am scrolling and overcasting my mouse to check the stats quickly to make certain while I have these 10 seconds left to select said runes/masteries... now I've done 20 pages specific to each champion and that makes selection a little easier but then your runes have to be very rigid in their compositions. There's only 20 pages and there are like 140 champs that means if you played every champion in the game you'd need to encompass 7 champions into each rune set you crafted... as a figurative argument what I am trying to prove here is that, you need to at least have each page made for many champions, some people only run 5 rune pages or less so then that definitely makes select easier but then its annoying to always be rebuilding pages seeing as it's tedious.

I know that's sort of jumbled but to make some clarifying statements about what I am getting at here ill make two suggestions: 1) Keep your current composition in select, with a small scrolling rectangular box but create a new additional feature in the Champion page tab (something exactly like what exists already in the Item Sets tab) and allow each Rune/Mastery page to be set to certain champions. Then you can click on Hecarim as an example and set Rune pages 1/6/14 and Mastery pages 9/20/15 for him specifically, then upon entering select for any mode (ranked/blind/ARAM/Dominion) whatever you will only see those rune/mastery pages in the scrolling tab... essentially disabling some of your choices that you would likely touch very little (I would guess not many players use more then 3-5 at the VERY MOST for a certain individual champion) but making it much easier to access what you need without so much clutter. You could program it so you only set it if you want to use it therefore keeping the current format entirely available in both ways, same select format and same accessibility to the entire rune/mastery rooster still if you wish. It could even be "suggested" automatically and highlighted in the menus or something like that, then you wouldn't have to create a new function in a tab from the main page at all. I feel like I run the same few slightly varying sets of runes/masteries on the same champs almost always and I think that's pretty normal, if I selected my champ and my runes and masteries were automatically what I would have scrolled through to find, this would make my life so much easier. This doesn't create any issues as far I can see, just enables players to have a more manageable set-up.

or

  1. Change the current select screen rune/mastery layout/format and create a new design. Make it bigger, cleaner and laid out so you can see all of your available pages at once. Therefore searching and finding a specific 2 pages among 40 will become a much less difficult task. I don't have too many ideas for the actual format/positioning/interface outlay of said menu but I do know that currently I am scrolling through what appears to be plain text and overcasting my mouse on tiny menu that automatically throws out a bunch more clutter for me to get distracted by while I frantically attempt to pick a page after trading with someone and having only 12 seconds left in the ARAM select screen. Sucks when you end up with the wrong runes/masteries, it usually makes me feel like I'd rather not play that round.

Since you're already making changes to the mastery pages for new trees, why not implement something like that at the same time?

What do you think???
