I believe that the Season 5 reset catered ONLY to high elo players!

Here is my thought process:

All Challenger and Diamond players are reset with the new season. The highest rank they can achieve is Plat one! so for a high Diamond or even Challenger player, placements do not make a difference. no matter how they go, they will land in plat. This is substantially different for low elo players (silver & gold) In those tiers the placements do actually matter, and as we have witnessed bad placement matches can easily propel a former gold player down to bronze. In itself that doesn't sound unfair, everyone falls at the same rate, right? NOPE!!! It is substantially harder for a low elo player to climb. The reset affects low elo players much, much harder than it does the high elo players!
