Actually, they act even worse when you're nice to them. Fun fact.

Pro-tip: Be passive-aggressive to them and tell them you love them.

I've had mixed success. It's all about identifying the breed of troll.

Some are just poor souls who are so badly tilted they shouldn't be playing, but are. You can reach out to them sometimes. Encourage and lavish them in attention, both in chat and in-game and you can bring them back. Sometimes they're my team's best players. Roam to help them, communicate with them, help take their turret so they can roam. Make sure they know you approve if they do well.

Some...some just want to watch the world burn. They know exactly what they're doing and give exactly zero fucks. These people, incidentally, taught me how to secure my jungle camps well so I do have to thank them for that. They taught me how to think effectively and make the best use of my time to get the most out of my efforts by playing a 4v5 or in some cases a 6v4. They taught me to identify and learn the mindsets of my team mates and learn their play patterns so I could capitalize on their attempts at trolling.

Shame all I could really give them in return was a report. I hope they got the ban I heard so many of them say they wanted.

Remember, all trolls feed off suffering and hatred, but not all those who feed off suffering and hatred are trolls.

Of course, since the word troll is so easily used despite nearly everything being viable at low elo:

Not being a dick-on-fire is a great way to treat your teammates in general, especially when you actually are being more skilled than them.

True story.

Had a Shaco on the enemy team that trash-talked us the entire game once. Saltiest individual I've ever met. Utterly execrable person.

I persuaded my team not to trash talk back, or even ignore him, but instead to concur with his every statement, and to commend him for every good play he made. In the post game lobby, he started it up again, whereupon we started recounting all of the excellent plays he made, and further added that we'd be honored to have him teach us to be incredible at the game like him.

His words: "I hate you all." And he promptly left.

That, my friends, is how you fight a troll.

Always be kind to your enemies. Nothing annoys them so much.

This is so true, when there i a feeding troll on my team and nobody feeds his "trollness" the troll always stops.

for example a zilean mid clearly running into a tower and int feeding, says a sarcastic comment, expects team to rage at his, nobody does, stops
