If i remember right got its ap removed cause and got its ap removed. Trinity got also its crit removed and that was not thanks to , or . Just cause most users on both items didn#T use quite the ap (or/and the crit). For the removal other things got buffed/added like cdr to sheen for its ap removal, so trintiy got 10% cdr (later with the removal of crit it got additional 10% cdr) and iceborn slow increases with armor. And that by far couldn't be anymore abused by ezreal while meanwhile Malphite in exchange for 30 ap got realy big slowfields (cause most malphites buld armor and not ap regardless).
