although im not a thresh main i can confirm from experience of my teamates doing this and the occasion where i play thresh, but the more common situation is thresh is over wall, throws lantern teamate: flashes over wall to thresh

Toppien9/19/2018, 1:12:12 AM17 votes

at this point i feel sorry for thresh mains, not because people dont click the lantern, but because the lantern is a stupid mechanic that doesnt frigging work in a high pressure situation, so i blame riot for thresh mains suffering

Bard mains can relate when it comes to the heals. ADC's will literally walk around the heals when they have 50 HP left.... Even if they are in safe spots. They dodge Bard heals better than any enemy ability in the game.

throws lantern directly on top of ally they continue running/flash away from it and die

I tried.

Zilean : Disengage! Dis-en-gage!

-ally fights until 20% hp-

ultimate!

-ally disengages-

ultimate wears off

-ally re-engages-

-ally dies

"why you no ult?"

"I did, that's what those little hour-glasses meant"

Soraka drops her E on the lantern and you get snared [sg-soraka]

EyesOfTheFox9/19/2018, 4:25:10 AM7 votes

If LoL were Space Quest:

/use lantern

"How do you want to use the lantern?"

/toss lantern near ally

"You throw your lantern in the middle of an enemy minion wave preventing anyone from actually being able to click on it. No one is saved and you soon follow suit. Coming to your demise you take one last look at the stars as you lay in the rubble of what was once your tower and everything slowly fades to black. Thank you for playing League of Legends Thresh. It's been a good one."

I try to click the lantern, but then the enemy hit boxes are too big and I end up auto attacking them instead of clicking the lantern :(

Kieferr9/19/2018, 2:51:42 AM3 votes

This "meme" is like 5 years old. Not even funny anymore. I can't even remember the last time nobody clicked a thresh lantern either. Stop posting stupid shit for free upvotes.

DunkmasterDennis9/19/2018, 12:40:53 PM3 votes

Honestly, most of the time I cant even click the lantern cuz champs and minions are blocking it

Rakvir9/19/2018, 5:07:56 AM2 votes

I find clicking the lantern to be an immeasurable waste of time (as even a second or two can be critical) when the enemy crowds the damn thing, rendering it impossible to actually use it due to hit box overlap.

At least you now have an emote to show your frustration after your teammate flashed instead of grabbing the lantern

it's been like 5 years since his release, and it still happens.

i agree

JoeAnarchy9/19/2018, 2:55:05 AM1 votes

Me: grabs thresh lantern immediately dies and gives double kill because my support sucks and got themselves positioned badly also never trust a thresh lantern for this reason..

SugeMinPikk9/19/2018, 3:15:38 AM1 votes

Only in low elo

O for Orianna9/19/2018, 4:12:33 AM1 votes

Instead of grabbing the lantern, Patrick flashed.

Violet Fields9/19/2018, 7:01:53 AM1 votes

Why cant they make it like in Dark Star Singularity where if you step in the middle of it you get pulled.

Safa9/19/2018, 8:09:43 AM1 votes

Yes this happens way too often ... And the usual excuses are: ''I didn't see it'' ''People were standing on it'' (70% of the time they weren't) ''I thought I could kill one of them first'' ''I was focusing on the enemy and wasn't paying attention'' and then theres the moments where they just lose all sort of brain activity and flash over over a wall instead of grabbing a lantern or dash (eh this is less frustrating than a flash but still cmon pick the darn lantern up) . Theres also that moment where you would be way faster than your adc (duo to mobi boots or magical boots etc) and you'd throw a lantern to help them to get to lane and they would say that they had the shop open or were looking at an enemy/ally [slayer-jinx-unamused]

Jack Garrus9/19/2018, 9:04:26 AM1 votes

As a Thresh main I forget to drop the lantern. Wait, I'm not a Thresh main.

DrCyanide9/19/2018, 11:11:50 AM1 votes

I had a friend who never knew if you were supposed to Left Click on the lantern or Right Click on it.

afmghost9/19/2018, 5:06:12 PM1 votes

Absolutely. That's why I switched mains

IDEMO NA MUDA9/19/2018, 6:44:18 PM1 votes

Depends on the division to be honest on this one. I'm a thresh main ( d1 promo highest peak this season ) and i've got a couple of friends struggling in gold so i naturally help them out by playing on a smurf. Since i usually duo bot with them i don't have any issues with lantern pick ups ( since i basically throw it to just him cause i count on only two us to carry the game, i don't mind others much ( i do throw them lantern when needed tho )) but in high elo its way more fun. Predicting the hook when someone flashes in low master high dia game while flashing back to throw a lantern to your adc just to kill their adc under his own tower is so satisfying. And they always pay attention to the lantern which is so refreshing when you come back from low elo.
