What ppl seem to not understand about "Represent" event.

Tips his tin foil hat...

This whole event is just one enormous survey. A survey that can (and probably will) shape the future of League of Legends. Let me explain.

Choosing the house you want to represnet answers one simple question - "What is the most important aspect of League of Legends to you?". Answers are simple as well: The Council - "Strategy, tactical gameplay", The United - "Teamplay", The Faceless - "Off-meta picks, diversity", The Warband - "Solo carry potential, self reliance, 1v5, LCSBigPlays, fastpaced gameplay and Yasuo/hard to master champion i cant master so i feed".

As we can see all of them are viable points. But why would Rito do something like this? Why create entire event just to ask a simple question?

Well, I'm glad you asked.

First thing first: ppl tend to lie in surveys. They pick what they think would put them in the best light. They lie to themselves about thier need of LCSBigPlays. But when you make the survey look like something they can be proud of, when you use tags like "Represent", "choose your destiny" etc. they will pick honestly. Moreover maybe Rito decided to finally see why Boards are always whinning. Maybe Rito wants to check those bold statements that most players want slower gameplay, less damage, balance....

This event will show us the ultimate answers and once the one true house - the Warband - wins Rito will take this massive data and wield it like a firey sword against all and everyone who dares to disagree with the one and only way of balance - the way of LCSBigPlays...

Or maybe not. Teleports back to his tin foil dimension

And then it falls apart when people like me choose Warband because it's purple.

The best is clearly the faceless council; defeating everyone with the perfect strategy that is Teemo Support.

Yeah TBH 3 out of 4 appealed to me, and after not being able to find ANY info about the missions and rewards for each house I just went with the aspect that appealed to me the most: teamplay. I love my offmeta, but the rush of a good cooperative play is the best thing in League to me.

Honestly I think you're on to something. Even IF Riot didn't design it that way this is definitely a referundum on what is the most important aspect of League to the playerbase.

Honestly, if that is the case, then it backfired.

Because there will be people like me, who picked a side not because of what it represents, but other reasons. I don't really care for off-meta picks, yet I joined the Faceless because:

  1. It has the best looking icon
  2. Singed represented it among others (as the only Zaunite)

Meaning that my vote was basically a lie in your context as well.

There's a Harry Potter survey for which Hogwartz house you'd belong to. Depending on your answers, it will give you a choice between two houses because your scores for those houses tied. I'm pretty sure I had that situation myself because I was told "The Council" by the survey but felt Warband fit some of my ideals better. Both were, overall, accurate for my personality but I chose Warband because I liked the icon/champions better.

I like the idea of facing a challenge and letting quick thinking solve a problem situation. But I also like being prepared ahead of time for issues and adding contingency plans. To a large extent, I show both of these by building MF with critical items versus Lethality. I give myself added challenge with a less optimal build but I also plan ahead by using the build that's better for late game and for issues like Tanks/Assassins (a critical hit on an Assassin will chunk more than a "true damage" non-crit).
