You, the ADC, and Your Ideal Lane Partner

You play ADC, right? Which ADC are you, which support do you think suits you best as a lane partner, and why? For example...

ADC: Varus Best lane partner: Leona

Reasoning: A good Leona can lock down and shut down just about anybody, and the bonus damage from her passive synergizes very well with Varus' kit, especially his blight stacks. Plus, Varus can make it easier for Leona to get in her CC in the first place thanks to his massive poke and own brand of CC. Caught between demonic arrows, shining shields to the face, and solar powered exploding tentacle rape, even the most mobile opponents have little chance of escape, and once they get caught, they drop like flies.

On the other hand, this pairing is purely offensive. With no sustain or reliable disengage whatsoever, the two of them must completely dominate the laning phase. Otherwise, they're in big trouble, and they just can't do a whole lot once far enough behind.

Uh... from a support perspective I like Zyra and Varus

It has a ton of poke + counter engage to make up for the fact that both of these are easily jumped on but I'm just a lowly support so I'll shut up.

I think that Sivir + Leona is a very good combo, since Sivir can push out many attacks in a short time, proccing all of Leona's marks. Sivir can also somewhat take care of herself with her spellshield, and her ult is very good for surprising enemies with a Leona to the face.

Janna + anything that scales well off AD, since Janna's shield gives up to 50 + 10% AP of AD - essentially a free BF Sword.

Janna + any hypercarry (Vayne Tristana KogMaw etc), since Janna can peel like there's no tomorrow. You thought you could touch the Kog? Meet Ms. Tornado, she'd like to slap you in the face. (Nami is a good substitute for Janna)

caitlyn or tristana, both with thresh. The hook is great for harass, and tristana can follow it with the ability to jump out if things turn sour (1 death instead of 2, so less risk). caitlyn has the range to just attack from distance and not commit to the all in until it's more certain. The Lantern is a life saver. Once I get even a little ahead I like to play really aggressive to try to shut them down (bot Lane = my Lane, back off! ) and having thresh wait in the bushes to throw me a Lantern as soon as our wards spot the enemy jungler is awesome.

The Lantern is also great for pulling in the jungle when they spot him and start running too early for him to land CC.

thresh also offers a lot of utility to the whole team when laning phase ends.

As someone who plays both positions, I've found this pairing to be OP:

ADC - Graves Support - Nami

Nami is a very good support for Graves. A good Nami can land bubbles with ease, which makes for an easy E->Q->R for Graves, and the enemy just lost a fight. Nami also gives Graves the ability to do more sustained damage with her E. The pairing can be a decent poke lane OR a great offensive lane, whatever works for the lane. The pairing also comes with some of the best disengage with the game. Truly great at anything.

I think you could make an argument that Leona is the best lane partner for -any- ADC in the current META. Probably why she's the 4th most commonly played Support Champion in the game right now.

A lane that -used- to be a lot of fun as Varus was Nidalee and Varus -- between her spears and the long range on his Q you could really kill people from afar. This was before Nidalee's re-work though, so I don't know if Nidalee support is even a thing right now.

Earlier I laned against a Morgana and Varus and realized if Morgana landed a Q+W on me followed by an E+Q from Varus that I would be dead so fast. Fortunately both of them were fairly terrible and we were able to win that lane pretty easily, but I think those two compliment each other well. Almost every ability they have work wonderfully in unison when used together.

The only ADC's I play and know enough to not freak out when I get stuck as ADC are Sivir, Miss Fortune, and Kennen. My preferred Support pairing would be:

Sivir and Braum

I like the peeling power of Braum, to keep baddies off my back until I can finish my Essence Reaver rush. I play more like an AD caster than a true AD carry, so if I can't finish off ER, I feel highly diminished as an ADC. That, and Sivir is actually an AD caster to begin with. MissFortune and Leona

Miss Fortune is a powerful early game lane bully, but kind of requires a team built around her for late game operations. She also requires someone to lock down enemies for her to kill, as she lacks the chasing power of true AD casters, and the escape ability of certain other dual pistol ADC's ...

Kennen and Pantheon

As Kennen (who has similar base stats to Draven for those who say he can't be ADC), I prefer someone that has hard ranged harass, like a spell caster, but having a targeted stun and an ultimate that complements my all ins. As you can guess, people typically don't expect Pantheon support and typically pairs me with something like Soraka (Energy based champion, pick mana giving support hurr durr)

Yasuo and Alistar

The term "ADC" means AD Carry. It does not specify if the carry is a ranged carry or a melee carry, so technically, a melee ADC like Yasuo or Master Yi is actually meta. It just so happens the "meta" part is them going mid or top. However, a support would prevent many feast or famine issues with a melee ADC. Yasuo seems to have been made as an AD carry, as he has the tools to shrug off harass and the ability to get close and stab other ADC's. He also synergizes with many supports like Braum and Alistar. So my pairing of Yasuo and Alistar is to provide heavy lane sustain and an on demand knock up, rather than a ultimate based knock up as Braum has. Alistar also has a "dash", allowing him and Yasuo to jump someone at the same time rather than only Yasuo going in.

LeeSin and Leona

Technically speaking, Lee Sin is not an AD carry at all, but rather an AD assassin/bruiser hybrid. However, he can be used in place of a melee ADC with his jump, sustain, and shield. He works really well with an all in melee support like Leona to lock down enemy champions. Lee's primary focus is to rush a Hydra and then do a normal assassin Lee build. Crit items not needed because by the time he has Hydra, the game should be over.

MasterYi and Nunu

Master Yi is an absolutely terrifying champion to see rush out of the jungle. It makes sense to include him as a potential melee ADC choice. His problem in relation to other melee ADC's is his lack of sustain and susceptibility to being harassed. Thus, the ideal support has to be a bruiser bully, yet still comes with some counter harass. A single AP item (like Haunting Guise) makes Nunu's snowballs hurt like hell considering its 1.00 AP scaling, and Nunu's ult makes people think twice about jumping on him. Blood Boil is just icing on the cake.

Graves is my main man bot lane.

I don't really have a favorite support to accompany him, but there are a few I like. Annie andZyra both have a lot of lockdown potential and harass that makes up for Graves 's range and compliments his bursty nature. I like Leona as well, but I don't feel she synergizes as well, since a. being that she is tanky, the enemy lane is going to focus Graves in skirmishes, and b. she doesn't offer any poke or harass outside of an all-in.

amonkeybutt10/8/2014, 9:10:14 PM1 votes

Ezreal Braum

Q procs are the easy answer, but the two can actually save eachother a lot of grief. Ez and jump away from danger, meaning Braum can save Unbreakable for seriously fubar situations. As a bouns, Braum and jump away to Ezreal after he's cleared the gap.

This also goes for engaging. The pair's mobility and general slipperiness in lane is interesting.

AD Thresh and blitz as the support If a hook lands, chances are good you'll be dead before you can get back to your lane partner

hartar10/5/2014, 9:44:19 AM1 votes

I going to said Twitch + Thresh .

Reasson: Thresh lanter is great for Twicht for escape, since he not very mobile. But is the hook plus flai that make easier for Twicht to hit the poison bottle and hit has much with hes ultimate.

I actually play Supp mostly if I have to go bot lane... ADC is too reliant on luck for my tastes.

So... Supp:Malphite ADC:Lucian

Malphite's an incredible supp because of his slow and his massive potential for damage output, even on a full/near-full tank build. Lucian's able to counter for Malphite's rather weak early game, and he can snowball into insane power late game.
