The difference between Sonic and Riot is that the people working on Sonic actually listened to the negative feedback from fans and said they'll make him better.

Taking something that works and making it worse.
The good news is, there was so much criticism about the new sonic that the director sent a tweet and was like "i'm sorry...i will fix it and make it better!" Which not many directors these days even do.
Meanwhile Riot...despite all the negatives of the new logo, went with it anyway. Very professional rito.
