That being said, I've always personally felt that the concept of "friend zone" is rather silly.
I mean, intimate lovers and whatnot kinda have to be acquaintances and friends first, right? Not sure why the mere notion of being friends is somehow as if a 'death sentence for any future development period(!)' for so many. I'm quite sure people are quite capable of getting into knowing each other as acquaintances and friends before deciding that they want to fuck with and spend the rest of their lives together, instead of during or after; just because a relationship that may or may not start with being friends, it doesn't necessarily mean that's the extent of the development it's ever going to get.
If you would ask me, I'd definitely say starts as friends first. I mean, what's the point of the relationship, especially one that's intending to be close at some point, if you don't even know each other well and aren't that comfortable with casually hanging out with each other since you barely know one another? But then again, that may be the secret to my forever alone status that indiscriminately includes both romance and friendship. So probably don't take my words too seriously, idk.
Still, I'm sure most people only talk about "friend zone" extremely casually (unless you're very sexually frustrated or something, I guess), which is cool.
