He serves an important purpose -- making other jungle picks feel better about their low win rates! After all, even Zoe can claim a 2% edge on him!

You could have included "the entirety of the Varus lore update" and it would still be accurate.

EDIT: Seriously, it's not a good story and leaves Varus devoid of purpose as a character and includes several aspects that were outright extraneous and unnecessary.

I'd actually love some feedback from a RIOTER or a very high elo player on a related question. Why has Riot moved jungle meta so far from control style jungling? Back in the day you could play something like nunu and you carried the game by just focusing on vision control so that you your team sees jungle coming a mile away and can avoid ganks, and conversely you remove their vision so enemy laners feel inclined do be a little less aggressive. Then you'd also have freedom to counter jungle, and you'd usually have priority on objectives because of the vision advantage, and you could gank for your lanes regularly without falling far behind since ur not farming a ton.

Now having kill pressure and good clear speed trump everything else. I remember at Worlds a few years back Bengi was being interviewed after an SKT win and they asked him about how he helps his team stay afloat since it always seems like Faker and Bang were taken care of in lane. His response: "I just uh, gank a lot, and ward a lot". Can we please allow that pattern of play to come back? I've tried multiple times playing a utility style jungle and prioritizing killing scuttle on cooldown, go the warding smite for more wards, and then just gank a lot whenever I see the enemy jugnle on a ward and I know it's safe to do so. It just feels bad to do anything but hard farm and secure kills.

Have ward changes made it too hard to use this style, or soemthing else? Is it just to appeal to the agro apes wanting to see more fighting? Or is there a specific reason why allowing that pattern of play to be viable at levels above bronze would be harmful to the health of the game? I want to know why it doesn't work and why Riot is ok with the fact that it doesn't work. Thanks!

You are right, Nunu is useless.

Nunu Bot however, is more tilting than a Mastery 7 spamming Vayne.
