Oh, hello, I just came by to talk to you about taking double damage.

Sadly taking double damage is only for the best of players. Plus the Calamity ring is found pretty late in the game so the only way is to play new game+ but that means that you need to beat the game with soul lvl 1 and keep the starting kit of items so you can enjoy a true double damage run after that.

For those who play LoL taking double damage goes without saying.
