Viktor item 3200 item 3198 item 3197 item 3196

Viktor's theme is evolution in the sense that he is supposed to be able to adapt himself to the needs of the game. The irony is that he is actually even less flexible than other champions at the later stages of the game for two reasons:

  1. His upgrades are of mid-game quality and take an item slot
  2. His upgrades are permanent and cannot be adapted to growing situations

I propose that Viktor's upgrade path be changed from hardware-based to firmware-based -- basically he should no longer use item slots for his passive. Instead, he will have access to three elixir-type items at the store. He can only have one firmware active at once.

New Passive: Hexcore

Viktor has improved himself with an evolving machine-learning processor core. This system constantly evaluates performance and makes improvements to adapt to new situations.

  • Viktor passivly gains 3 ability power per level

New Passive: Firmware Flash

Hexcore software can be upgraded with improved capabilities. Depending on power routing, enhanced algorithms, and logic enhancements, Viktor is capable of modifying the capabilities of his hardware upgrades on-the-fly on the battlefield. Materials for a new firmware chip cost 500 gold. At any point, Viktor may replace the firmware of his Hexcore with a new version. The upgrades are visualized as a buff on Viktor's buff bar using the already-established icons for death/gravity/power augments:

item 3198 Death - The Hexcore routes additional power to his death ray and enhances the beam focus.

Death Ray deals an additional 30% damage as True Damage over 4 seconds

item 3197 Gravity - The Hexcore uses a new advanced algorithm to calculate gravitational fields with increased accuracy. Due to relativistic changes, operational efficiency increases significantly due to improved energy transfer mechanisms. Blah blah techno-babble.

The range of Gravity Field is increased by 30%. Additionally, the gravity field saps energy from stunned targets, restoring 20 mana per small target stunned and 40 mana per large target stunned. Finally, cooldowns are reduced by 10%.

item 3196 Power - The Hexcore increases power to the shields and establishes a feedback loop to increase the capabilities of Viktor's redundant shield capacitors.

Viktor immediately gains a regerative shield upon casting Power Transfer that lasts for up to 3 seconds. When Power Transfer returns to Viktor, the secondary shield stacks with the regenerative shield. While any shield is active, Viktor gains 30% increased movement speed and health regeneration of 0.5 AP/5 seconds.

A passive that gives ap/lvl is pointless, just remove the ap/lvl and give him a bit more base damage. Right now he probably has it to fill the item slot with an item that does... something.

I like the idea of a dynamic passive, but I think Viktor looks more like a 'you install it and you like it' kind of scientist, not like Jayce whose weapon changes all the time. The current passive addresses this difference nicely, it just needs to either not take a slot or be worth it lategame.

Also, your passive won't be noticed until extremely late into the game because they're basically elixirs you buy in the shop right?

The cool thing about Vik's augments is the mid-game power (or utility) edge they give you on purchase. The PROBLEM, however, is that of all 3 augments, only Death scales reliably into late game.

I mean, don't get me wrong - Gravity has pretty good stats; but the passive effect is very situational. A little extra range on a slow-over-time stun? Very lacklustre if you aren't in the position to capitalise.

And Power Augment has an excellent passive, but the stats are disgusting.

I adore Vik's augment. I love that it takes up an item slot; and I love the mid-game power spike. I simply do not understand why it can't be cost-efficient early game, but upgrade at a cost slightly dearer than a standard purchase in exchange for slot efficiency late game.

Either that, or a selection of 5-10 augments, all doing different things and for different prices. Saving up for a 5k gold hex core that is ridiculously slot-efficient would be a fantastic option, and make Viktor play feel a little more calculating (which would sync rather nicely with his awesome zone-control kit).

I'd hate an elixir/trinket-like passive. I like your choice of effects (true damage on death feels like a nice tradeoff for the mid-game power spike) but it would really feel like a cop-out. There's already so much wasted potential in this passive, y'know? =P
