Can anyone help me get better?

DJ Hailie·1/8/2014, 3:37:59 PM·2 votes·457 views

Ok I been playing this game every since about 1-2months ago.

I been playing bot matches for a while and don't play normal much at all.

I want to get better with normal and stop playing bot matches so I just have these questions.

  1. I like playing Lux and I was wonder if there is anyway I can improve my aim when using my ult?

When I play her in blue team it easier for me to use my ult on the enemy but not all the time.

But when I am on purple, it is harder for me to do so and people complain about how my aim with my ult can be so sorry, I miss a lot with my q and w a lot too, more in purple team.

2.I have a problem with playing adc and support. I play with adc champs like ashe, sivir, and Mf currently and I can be so bad with them at bot.

And support I NEVER play before and I am afraid about that because I play draft pick and I most of the time is last to pick.

Lucky for me I never had to play support yet but I know it is about to come where I have to play the support role.

I own Sona and I never touched her in pvp besides aram. So any tips for that please?

3.And for my Last question, Any tips about playing Riven? I have her on a different account and I am truly bad with her for some reason. I had to go bot with her one time and my score was like 0/9/9.

I was not feeding on purpose or anything like that and ever since then I never touch her in pvp again because I didn't want to show such a sorry performance like that again.

It was my first time with her in pvp (since people kept banning her the other times I want to play her lol) and my team forced me to go bot instead of top or mid which I didn't mind at all.

I am also bad with Akali and sometimes Katarina the same way in mid with a score like 0/9/? or 0/4/?.

If I never played the champs I am bad with,I will never get better with them so any good tips how to get better with those champs?

I truly want to get better at this game and I will read any tips or guides you have to show me.

Sorry for all that I wrote. I spaced out most of that so it would be easier to read. :)

Thank you if you reply to this post. :)

As already stated, getting used to playing unlocked can be a great help, and usually helps improve your gameplay by quite a bit. As far as aiming abilities goes, you never want to aim where they're currently standing, but instead, where you think they're going to be by the time the projectile reaches its end point. For example, with her ult, I believe there's a 0.5 second (500ms) delay before the actual laser fires, so you have to take into account how far they can move in that time. So, if they're moving east, you want to aim a bit to the east, where they should be after that 0.5 seconds is up. Of course, it's not always easy. You have to be able to quickly take into account the speed of their movement as well as if they have a dash ability or flash up. It's split second decisions like that, that decide how good of a player you'll end up being. Of course, it gets easier with time, like most everything related to skills in gaming.

I'd recommend playing more normals, because bots are extremely easy to predict, to the point where it starts to get boring. If a bot is in the river bush botlane, and you attack it, it's going to start moving back towards its own tower, so you know it will (very likely) start moving to the east. Where-as with humans, you have to assume that they could flash over the wall, or use some kind of dash to get away. It's much more fun playing against people than bots in that aspect, and I think you'll learn to enjoy it.

My advice on this is that play new champions in beginner or intermediate however confident you are. Second instead of PvP try to invite friends or ask someone in the forum to give you a teaching 1v1 match so that you can at least understand the mechanics of the champions which is key to being successful in this game. Akali and Katarina are some of my favorites as they are quick burst champions and have no need for mana but the sustain is the hard part which is why item 3145 is necessary to sustain them both in lane. Its also best to sometimes let the enemy champion push you towards your turret and not get ganked in the middle from the junglers coming at the sides and by somehow allowing the enemy to come whack at your turret try to initiate a gank with you jungler as it gives you some extra time to do so. I'm just spouting out some stuff here so sorry for not clarifying on those characters at this time.

I am far from a good player, but I started about 2 or 3 months ago and this is what I do.

With a new champ I create a totally custom game to get the bugs worked out. Then I move on to bots and then eventually normals. I also read a lot about the champs and head to youtube to watch a few games. One thing I need to do is understand all the common champions better so that I know how to play better against them. You want, well, I want to get to a point where I think about using a skill and my fingers just press the button without looking.

Don't fuss on one champ, some you will be better at then another. Find the ones, at least at the beginnings that you do better with.

For playing blue vs purple, what helped me is playing with the screen unlocked, but I still have problems, but each game as purple improves a little.

Smart casting and keybindings have helped me a lot.

After playing normal games, study the allied and enemy champs. Take note of the ones that did well and look at what they built. I try to watch in game too.

Get comfortable with the mini map and check it often. This is a hard one for me.

Ward your lanes, especially the jungle brush. I am getting ganked a lot less now. Even though I play adc a lot I don't depend on my support to ward.

Specifically, for adc's, play different ones. I do very bad with some, but with others, well, some are a lot easier for me. Also, be aware of your enemy champs abilities. Try to stay out of distance and put some minions between you and them. Don't over extend. If you are pushing past the jungle brush on bot and your support is not around drop back if your lane is not warded well. I get ganked a lot when that happens. Try to stay out of shooting range and go for a harrass right after the enemy champ has used an ability, but be careful.

No matter what your champ is, always try to keep moving around, back and forth etc. Never stand in one place. It makes skill shots from enemy champs harder to land.

As an ADC when it comes to team fights stay back, don't get in the mix, you are typically too squishy. I died many times trying to get into the fry and not attacking from afar. Try to focus your attacks during team fights.

Always keep on reading and watching games. When I first started I did not know you could flash over so walls for example, just learning one new trick like that can make a huge difference.

I also try to play at least one game a day. I don't see huge improvements, but do see small improvements.

These are just a few things I am doing, take it with a grain of salt and develop your own play style. Not sure I will go ranked anytime soon, my plans are just to keep learning and playing normal games and get good with 2 champs for each role this season.

Good luck and ignore any negative in game comments you get, I know I do. Bots and Normal games are for learning in my opinion, its when you get to ranked you need to be at a higher level. Brand Jinx Jayce Darius Lulu

You have to practice your aim. Use smart-cast. Nothing more to say there.

Support. Easy role. Quite fun. Sona is an amazing support. Practice.

If your team tells you to go bot, don't pick Riven. Pick Sona.

To get better, you have to practice, practice practice.

I recommend you watch champion guides and gameplays on YouTube.

Lux's ult is super easy to use as long as you think ahead. If you were trying to avoid Lux's ult in lane, where would you go? So lead your target in the direction you think they'll go.

As for ADC, get rid of MissFortune, she's not a very good carry. She can be a bully in lane but if your enemy's support so much as touches you, it's back to the fountain for you! If you have the IP/RP, try out some of the more reliable ADC champions like Jinx .

As for Riven, her playstyle is more suited to top lane play. She's strong at almost any level but once your abilities are on cooldown, you're pretty much a sitting duck so make sure that when you go into a fight, your rotation will kill your enemy. She's a very high risk high reward champion.

Make sure your rotation is correct. Charge into battle and get in close with her dashield(tm), use Ki burst to stun your intended target. Smack em around with some basic autos, then 3 combo broken wings as they try to get away. In the chance they survive, pop the ult and windslash that cheeky little S.O.B.

Use flash to get in range or cut off an escape.

Just keep practicing and try unlocking your screen when you ult. Also people tend to try to dodge aim it the way you think well will be in .5 seconds or whatever the cast time is :D

As far as learning to support, and just getting better in general, I would try watching streams of pro and high level players. You can learn a lot about how to do certain things as well as decision making.

Sorry in advance for how long this is! This is just some things I've picked up while playing for about a year now.

Purple team: Purple team is always harder for beginners, so your problem is not uncommon. When playing against bots, you always play the blue team, fighting across the map upwards. Since you mostly play bots, its pretty easy to become accustomed to it. When you play purple afterwards, your play style feels "introverted" and strange. The only way to get used to it is practice on purple team, and soon it will just feel natural :)

ADC and supp:

Starting off with support: its a pretty easy role to fill because your role is very simple. Your job is to compliment your ADC and their offense or defense. (Using Sona as an example, since you have her) --> For instance, if you play Sona paired with Ashe, you can boost their damage output with your Q, or you can boost their defense with your W. Support abilities are just a question on whether to play offensively or defensive.

ADC: Your job is to do damage over time, with the aid of your support, who's there to insure that you don't die and you have the best output of damage possible (note: don't flame at your support if you die, however. They're your teammate, not your lackey.)

Draft Pick: Don't be afraid of Draft Pick, its one of the best strategical things in League. Picking last isn't always a bad thing, so don't worry. If you have a diverse pool of champions, you can pick the best champion to counter your lane opponent (which you may not have now, but in time). Honestly, picking first worries me the most, ahahahah n_n;;;

Akali and Katarina I main as both, and I had MAJOR issues first starting out with them (feeding top lane, feeding midlane, being afraid to attack, the works. Ugh.) But it's all about play style. They both rely on you getting up close and personal with your opponents. Meaning that when you do you have to have either defense and high and quick damage output (preferably both). One of the best things you can do is use their flash/blink abilities to disengage after bursting down an enemy. With Kat, E in, damage, and E out; with Akali, Mark, Ult, E, and Ult to an enemy minion (or use your W to disappear.)

  1. Try using Smartcast and turn it on, it is on the settings/keybindings. Will make aiming any skill shot A LOT easier.
  2. To play ADC you need to practice last hitting minions while also poking the enemy ADC. Learn to kite which is using the different skill sets to avoid DMG and other enemies, i.e. vayne's tumble and ezreal's arcane shift. The support lane is all about you making your ADC survive and get them kills while making sure you ward as much as possible. Most useful item is sightstone for supports.
  3. Well Riven is quite op but you just need to practice her more to get better. Use her Q to get DMG on the other player to poke and W to stun them when ready to fights. Build a lot of AD on her since her E builds off it. When at 6 and getting into a fight turn ult on the moment you start and use it again for the blast to kill near the end of fight. If you really want help I have a smurf that I can help you with in games.
