Why I don't surrender in ranked

I just played a game where my team was 3-20 and the enemy Draven was 10-0. My team wanted to surrender, but our mid lamer and I kept voting no. We started getting a couple kills under tower, but we were still 19-30. Then at about 30 mins in the enemy Draven had to leave. My team sieged all the mid lane turrets and the enemy base and won.

There is always hope to win.

That's simply getting lucky.

A lot of people want to surrender in ranked because there is very little hope to win, and they probably wouldn't have won if the enemy Draven left. I agree, there is always hope, but sometimes it's just not worth the time fighting for a lost cause.

I have had sooooo many games where my team wants to surrender because we got smashed early game. But because I always vote no and there is usually someone else who votes no too we rarely ever surrender, and sometimes we even win by some miracle.

I will never surrender a ranked game regardless of how badly we are losing because there is always a chance for a comeback.

One such example would be a game where we were losing terribly, but the enemy team was trolling and took forever to decide to win it. We aced them when our nexus was 2 hits from dead and immediately won the game while still 30 kills behind.

So, you're saying... pray for a disconnect when you're losing horribly, instead of relying on skill?

No thanks. That's just a cheap win. Do not like...

Personally, whenever it comes to surrendering in ranked, I always use the same logic for why I shoudl always vote "no" opposed to "yes".

Here it is: When you surrender, you're more concerned about moving onto your next match. You're convinced that you're not going to win, and that the enemy simply has too much control to handle, therefore, you're ready to quit and to try again in the next match (or to simply just quit).

What nobody ever realizes, however, when they surrender is that by surrendering you are literally GIVING your opponent their win. I always assume that if the enemy truly wants to win the game, that they have to truly EARN IT rather than me saying "here, let me save you some time and give this win to you, for free :)".

In normals, I don't mind as much, but in ranked, if you win you have to earn it. That's how I've always thought and god forbid I take it easier on my enemy than I take it on myself.

Okay here's how I see this, the Draven leaving part aside, which I imagine there was some rage over.

If you are losing, then there is always a chance for a comeback. Yes, it may be difficult or near impossible, but any game can be won for a number of reasons. It is a ranked game, everyone wants to win. If you surrender, you guarantee you have NO chance of getting that win. If you battle it out for an extra 35, 40 minutes, but you GET that win, it was definitely worth telling your team they can't surrender yet. And even if you lose after that, you were going to lose anyways then, so you didn't really lose anything except time. Unless you've got a date or something to get to, it's not really a big issue. Either way you were going to spend that time in game, so maybe you won one instead of lost two. Or lost one instead of won one and lost one. It happens, time isn't that valuable that how you spend thirty minutes in a game should matter to that extent.

Just my two cents :3 People care about little things too much.

Side note: There are some games, though, where surrender should be done. When the team is fighting itself, and you're behind, there really is no point, they won't coordinate enough to make that comeback. It's important to know when you are soundly beaten, and it is unreasonable to try for that win.

More power to you! I hate surrendering too. I have been in many seemingly hopeless situations where the team tuned things around. What a lot of people don't realize is that some champions scale a lot better then others, so a very bad mid game can be turned around late game. I have seen this happen a few times and everyone is scratching their head wondering why they won lol
