Learning new characters

What is the best way to learn new characters without people getting bent out of shape at you lol.... I admit I am a noob. I have been playing mainly 1 character and am now about level 12. When I try characters I am not that familiar with (I play vs computer), I tend not to do well. When you are matched up with people is it based on your level? Should I create new accounts just to learn new characters? Thanx.

How to learn to swim : Your dad throws you in a pool.
How to learn to play a champ : Take a champ you've never played and go ranked.

I tend to play a quick custom to get used to the champions skills then i play normals, its the only real way to learn a champion as bots are too predictable and many times i knowi would have died against a player but the bots ran away scared :P

yeah. i'm now competent enough so that i can just walk into a normal game without worrying about feeding. but before i learned cautious gameplay and general mechanics.

i'd play a custom game against bots. just to familiarize with abilities. and i'd pick up a build off mobafire or one of those sites. if u get the build part out of the way, then it's a lot less to focus on.

next i'd recommend playing a coop vs ai. don't worry about lane assignments. just pick ur champ and go and familiarize yourself with mechanics a bit. the coop ai is much better than regular custom.

then play a normal. if they start raging at you. just ignore user/mute them. if its not advice and just raging u dno't need to listen to that. report them for being toxic at the end of hte game. at level 12 you have nothinjg to be ashamed of. the guys raging at you are probably not that good themselves or are smurfs who may have been banned from regular level 30 play.

try and learn from your teammates. but don't get upset by their rudeness. it's going to happen. stick tough.

oh and play arams too. they are great for learning mechanics.

honestly for me, the best way to learn a champ is to just pick them, dont say that its your first time and do what you can. If you end up feeding a little just let them know, "sorry having a bad game plz dont be mad" and then ignore them (not mute unless they rage). Bots are good for learning a little but the most of a champ has to be learned against players. I know your only lvl 12, or 13 by now, but either way you should try them out against other players. Also check out lolcounter to see if you are against another champ that shuts you down because (though your low level and counters dont mean much) they do make a game difference in learning the champ. On that note I hated nasus for a long time because i played him (when i was like lvl 15) and got outplayed by teemo. Never picked him up again, though i know how good he is, i still have some form of hate for him.

Play a custom first, get used to what their abilities do and how they fit into your playstyle.

once you feel confident enough, kill off some bots and tweak your strategy as you see fit.

I played caster supports a lot, and tried using fighters...big change there. without the custom games to figure out what they do and how they move I'd have been a N00B covered in sauce handing out forks to feed the other team due to lack of knowledge.

You could just be brave and jump into the pool too. Practice in the kiddie pool before jumping off the high dive boards.

It just takes time and practice, this game requires not just learning the skills but how to use them effectively, I mean champions with Global Ult need Awareness 24/7 of their Allies status, how many towers are taken or being taken, minion waves that could possibly bring a backdoor while your team is pushing a lane. It's honest alot to work with each champion and while it may seem tiring you'll need to make sure you can estimate the damage potential you can do with your champion by checking your stats every time you b and obtain items. It can heavily affect team fights as well as your performance and survival against enemy players. I recommend playing against Intermediate bots as their algorithms are infused with PvP data from matches in which can provide new players who are practicing more of a challenge in which can help you prepare for PvP matches. I wish you the best of luck with your champions and don't let anyone drag you down and rise as a positive summoner and teach others whenever you can.
