Please Help Me... How to get out of Bronze V?

u mid i feed·1/6/2014, 3:58:30 AM·2 votes·654 views

Hi, all LoL summoners,

Let me make a brief summary of what's currently going on: I started league about a month ago, got to level 30, and started to play ranked immediately. I found out that players in ranked quenes took the games very seriously; and, without a doubt, a loss in ranked is a huge deal towards the next promotion.

I was assigned to Bronze II when the provisional games were over, and unfortunately, things started to downhill after that. I've been constantly dragging down by all the afkers, feeders (the intentional ones), trolls, and many other uncooperative teammates. I've searched up guides, and asked for advices--which were prompting that I should carry the team--yet none of them have worked so far. It is impossible to do well when the rest of your team is suffering. One person's mistakes can jeopardize the whole game and unfortunately in Bronze, people like this are pretty much unavoidable.

For those of you whom stayed in Bronze League for while, you should know that feeling. I'm not such of a good player myself as well, but I certainly do deserve to get out of this League of Hell.

Season 4 is about to start -- can that change my status that I've been doing during the preseason? Or am I just going to be stuck in Bronze, forever?

PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE, THAT ARE PRACTICAL. AND, IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN SHARE SOME OF YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH ME AS I CAN LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS ENTIRE 'RANKED' SYSTEM.

Thanks.

Okay, I started out in bronze, and it took me about two to three months to get out of bronze. First and foremost, you started ranked way too early. I had been playing for about three months after I hit level thirty before I even started thinking about joining the ranked scene, and even then I didn't join for another month.

First and foremost, you should work immediately towards setting up your rune pages. You should have at least one for every role. Those roles being: AP, ADC, tanky, and support. That should be your first priority. Secondly, you need to make sure you're very proficient in one role in particular (your main) but also competent in all of the other roles.

It sounds like, based on your blaming of afks, feeders, trolls that you are the kind of person that can be somewhat toxic in a game. Not trying to be offensive here, it's just an observation. Remember that whenever you lose, you need to evaluate your own playing first, before you even think about talking to other people. Even then, if you don't have anything to say that contributes to the team, then don't say it at all. Of course you can talk to yourself about how bad your teammates are, but don't vocalize it in an area that your teammates will see. It won't help anyone, and will only ruin everyone's day.

Next, once you've done all of these steps, you need to learn how to become a shot-caller. Most people who play in bronze aren't bad mechanically at the game, they just don't know what to do when it comes to familiarity with the game (i.e when to tower dive, when to dragon, when to baron, when to push, when to group, etc.). Start teaching yourself these skills now. Another issue with low-elo games is that the teamwork is spotty, and most teams are unorganized and in a state of disarray.

Finally, don't get to the point where you take ranked seriously. In fact, don't take this game seriously at all because if you do it will only stress you out. Sure, winning is always more fun, but you will have those days where all you do is win, and you climb, then you'll have those days where all you do is lose, and you'll lose all of those lp points that you worked so hard to obtain. Just keep playing, and take one match at a time, don't think that the game is out to get you, and don't think that you are god-because you're not.

Above all else, remember that this is just a game, and ranked is only a way for you to ensure that you are placed with people of similar skill level. Once you understand that, then you are ready for ranked.

Approach every situation with how you could do better. The people up at the very top consider the game their job. They look at the stats after every game and set goals for themselves. What do they want to do with their characters? What role are they playing? How are they contributing to victory (not just to getting kills)?

If someone on your team sucks, you can't change that. There's never any sense getting angry over another person's actions. If they are terrible and they feed, you can't help it. You can only help what you do.

I can only tell you what I did, and what I'm continuing to do. I spent all of Season 3 in Bronze (Bronze V quite a few times), and made it into Silver just as Season 3 closed. I'm currently in Silver 2 and climbing. I'm no pro, but I was very careful about how I did it, so I'll explain.

First, those chumps who tell you to "carry by yourself" are terrible teammates and often high-level players who have smurf accounts. They may be able to carry a game by themselves, but I've seen them fail many times and rage about how bad the team is, so even they can't deny the importance of teamwork. They just think they're good enough to carry the weight of 4. Rarely is that true. Anyway, enough of that arc (those guys really annoy me, if you haven't realized).

1. Communication - In every lobby I'm in, I try to get people talking about what they're going to play. I never tell them who they should play, because I'll take a loss over being a jerk. I will suggest what our team needs to be more well-rounded. Some take that as an order and get upset, but this is very rare. What I've found, ultimately, is that people are very accepting of someone opening up communication, and teams often get very serious about building a solid team comp. Team Comp is key, but the communication also slides very well into in-game teamwork.

2. Your Role - I used to play mostly mid and ADC because I thought they were the most fun. High Kill Rate does not equal a victory. Instead, I started focusing on filling the void our team needed. I learned the strong champions, learned to love Support. I improved my Jungle role. At this point, there is no lane that I can't play well enough to play it in Ranked. Currently, I try to play champions that control the flow of team fights (tanks). This way you can choose when to engage and hopefully the team will follow your lead. I've found that softly reminding people who they should focus before the game starts works out so well. Something like:

As long as Akali makes sure that Jinx dies, we've got this easy.

3. Study Yourself - Use LoLKing.com to look at your stats. Find out what champions you are good at playing consistently (Warwick appears to be your strongest so far, but you don't have enough games to know for sure yet). See what you need to work on, and improve that specifically in AI and Normal games (always go Draft Normal so it's closer to a Ranked setup).

4. Galio - Maybe he won't work for you, but that's how I climbed out of Bronze. Galio completely wrecks most AP Mid champs, he's tanky and his ult can dominate a team fight if you use it at the right time. You can build him as an armored Tank if necessary, or as a resist Tank and he's extremely useful in both situations. His damage output in the right conditions are top-of-the-charts and strong even in the worst games. Maybe it doesn't have to be Galio, but a champ like him is what you need. One that can turn the tide of a team fight in an instant.

So, I know it's a long response, but this is how I got out of Bronze, and the same method has me quickly gaining on Gold at the moment. I haven't changed a single part of my strategy. I've cycled my champions around, but everything else is identical, and it's still working. I played Gold-ranked players regularly now, and I have no trouble beating them when the team is working together. I still have games where people don't want to communicate, but those are rare and I'll still pick what I think is best for the team, no matter what.

The best lessons I learn, though, are the games I lose. The champions that dominated us, the way the other team was built. I study everything and adopt the things that worked. I got tired of getting beat by Shyvana, so I learned to play her and now I'm beating people all the time with her. Learn from losing.

It would help to add the roles you prefer to play.

It would help to understand what MMR is; and what it means for different roles if you are blue or purple. What it means and why you are blue or purple (team color).

Such as if you are purple and bot, you do not have the option to take golems, it also means your jungler is going to start blue, how does this affect the jungler types, such as is blue Lee Sin's best start?

I would only have a "few" pieces of advice for you in ranked play.

  1. Don't participate in the arguments your team is having even if they are yelling at you about a bad play. It won't help anyone.

  2. Try to get into the lanes your good at so you will play your best! If your last pick (trust me I know about being last pick) just be honest and say that your not the best support but you could try. Also if you are consistently getting last pick and have to sup. Practice one sup in normals a little bit.

  3. DONT COUNTER PICK! (this may seem odd and everyone may disagree but in bronze skill beats a counter pick any day.) If your gonna counter pick because you want to beat a fizz mid and you play ryze, but your not good at ryze and you never play ryze regularly your going to lose even though he is a counter pick. The fizz is most likely experienced playing fizz as he is playing him in ranked and has dealt with being counter picked before.

  4. Don't trash talk your own team. A.K.A. DON'T go into all chat after your lee sin makes a bad gank and dies and say, "This lee sin tho." No one likes that and it just makes them play worse.

  5. If you do get first pick play champions your good at not who everyone says to play. If everyone says to play shen but you have only played shen like once maybe DON'T play him.

  6. Make some funny comments in chat to make your team have a more enjoyable time. If everyone is happy and has had a good laugh everyone is more willing to cooperate and play with some extra teamwork they normally wouldn't play with.

  7. When you die think about what you could have done different to have lived. Think about how next time you can do it better.

I would suggest watching Youtubers who aren't pro. I used to suck like none other, and the strategies pro vids offered were a bit too high in skill level. So I watched people like Anklespankin and Sykkuno as well as Guides from Angry Honey Badger and more. They aren't pro but they are really good(close to pro). Also their game play was more... applicable(?) to my level of game play, and it's a lot more fun to watch in my opinion. That got me into silver as soon as I reached 30.

You just have to study your games? :x Just when you die, or something goes wrong think back on why and what happened, then try to avoid letting those happen again after that. Learn from your mistakes.

Also, it's kinda true what they say. If you can't carry yourself out, you don't deserve out. (I'm Bronze 2 and I've been here for a while. I get your frustration, I do. But that's a truth you'll have to learn if you ever want to get out of Bronze.)

Good luck. Hope you learn along the way. Just don't let yourself get demoralized.

In my experience I have learned that no matter what there are gonna be leavers and afkers. The best way to go about this is to improve upon your own skills. If you improve yourself you can win games, even with a leaver or a feeder. Be positive and compliment people and if someone is doing bad give them encouragement to boost their confidence. Doing thiss will cause them to play better and you will feel good so you will play better thus causing you to increase in skill and winning games. Ranked is more of a test of cooperation and not individual skill. That is what this community fails to realize so if you cooperate and treat your team kindly you will be able to climb out of bronze. I wish you the best.

I have bin fighting my way out of Bronze(Elo Hell) after taking a break from league for a month or 2 now, in B3 and duo'ing with my friend who is almost equal skilled as me,hears what has worked for me

Insta Ban Nid- i just perf to do so

If u have a duo, less chance you will have a afk or feeder

Play a carry- of course you cant do this every game but just put a perf Adc or Mid in chat

counter pick,- do this every chance you can http://www.championselect.net/ , that helps

i have bin going up and now in promos for bronze 2
