Help. How do I climb Silver.

Alright, a few months ago I posted how do I get out of Bronze. Basically I mained Draven for 3 months, and look at that I got to Silver yesterday. I also duo'd with a support for me, but how do I do well in solo que? I have found it quite hard. I played jungle Lee Sin and support Thresh. I lost both. Like I would play Draven every game, but people always are locking adc now which is upsetting. How do I do well?

[Guide] Basic Strategy (Part 1)
A [Guide] Post I made a little while back that may help you out. You might know a decent bit that's already on there, but it wouldn't hurt to check. =)

If you like that I have other [Guide] Posts out as well here.

Currently Gold IV, I sympathize with the woes of Silver, good luck man.

Also gratz on escaping Bronze!

I can't give much advice on what champion to pick or anything like that, but last season I started out at silver 5 and gradually worked my way up to platinum 1 towards the end (it took me several months to leave silver, only 1 to leave gold, and not much to work my way up in plat). I mainly played support which is a great role for carrying. The reason is you can keep your allies safe and lower the death count on your team. Of course you will get allies who make bad decisions and can potentially ruin the game but I've found that working on my leadership skills really helped me climb.

Some things to consider for any role you're playing is to

  1. Keep track of baron & dragon timers for your team, it means that you don't have to waste wards on dragon or baron when they're not up and it also means you have better chances of getting them when they spawn because your jungler will know not to go top or something.
  2. Watch the map and ping if someone is about to be ganked. I'm sure by now everyone has learned to ward their lanes but sometimes the jungler will pass a ward and the laner won't notice. Use your fall back ping whenever you see someone is about to gank an ally, you never know if they the enemy or not.
  3. Be positive. If an ally makes a good play say "good job" or something, it's always great to be encouraging.
  4. Question when someone makes a bad call. I'm sure we've all been in situation where someone pings to fight baron even though the enemies are all up an nearby, usually this ends in an ace and a loss. Make sure to think things through and reason with your team if you think they're following a bad call (be nice about it of course). Your allies will be sure to listen if you're doing well.
  5. Discuss where a bad teamfight went wrong. Don't call out names but say things like "we should avoid diving them under their turret next time" or "let's stay away from fighting in the jungle, it's making it too easy for their Miss Fortune to land her ultimate on all of us in these narrow spaces"

I think if you can master this and do well with any champion you play, you will climb in no time. Mechanical skill is great but decision making will send you over the top.
