Miss Fortune - Upcoming Changes

Now, I've been a Miss Fortune player for quite a while. I kind of main ADC, and playing Miss Fortune allowed me to reach gold on NA and plat on EU, with her as my most played ADC. I'm trying to say that I've played quite a bit of MF, and I know a decent amount about her.

The next two paragraphs aren't the main thrust of this post. They're mostly an explanation of what I think is strong about MF. It essentially boils down to shameless gushing. Feel free to TLDR them.

MF has two big strengths, that also make her a fun and unique laner. Her Q + W combo and the R. Early game, Q creates a fun mini-game where you want to try and bounce the shots. Optimally from the support to the ADC, or from a creep to an enemy champion. Because of the mana cost on it, you really have to be sure you're going to get a hit off that. Beyond that, another important skill to master is Q + auto. Your Q range is just a bit longer than the auto attack range, so you want to walk forward, get an auto off, then Q them as they back off. Or vice versa, depending on how the enemy reacts. Weave in Ws to taste. R is an excellent tool as well, once you get it. If your support can CC them, you get off tons of damage (TM), or if you can predict their movements, you can also pop off a quick R to get damage on people as they move about all confused.

Outside of the laning phase, and in ganks, MF's strengths are in the big AoE ult, and her excellent follow up and initial burst on a single target, thanks to Q and the ramp up damage on W. With grievous wounds, she's one of the best ADCs for fighting another ADC 1v1, and it gives her another layer of considerations. Who has a lot of life regen to debuff? Maybe I -should- focus the tank Nasus, at least for a moment. It'll help the team a lot. It's really very fun.

Those things are what MF is good at. And, mostly, the changes seemed really interesting and nice, to make MF a more popular mainstream champion. But as a whole, I'd almost prefer if they didn't go through at all. Because Q no longer scales as you level it. It remains at low, low damage. Ok yes, the second bounce does scale. But you can't reliably get a bounce off on a priority target most of the time. People do not often oblige you that way, especially in team fights, ganks and 1v1s. You have to gun for the target directly. With the first shot staying at a flat number, MFs reliable damage takes a severe nosedive. She's not able to do the up front damage that she needs to do as a short range AD Carry. A short range ADC with no escapes to boot. She has her ult, but that's often a very dangerous, very touchy tool. It shuts off life-steal, can be sidestepped or interrupted fairly easily and makes you entirely immobile. It's an excellent weapon in her arsenal, but MF should have more than that. If she can't create distance with a skill, she should have at least the option of turning around a fight. With Q as it is right now, MF has a decent amount of up-front damage. If she gets jumped, she has the option of trying to turn it around. All the other short range ADCs have that ability, and generally a much better escape to boot. Graves, Corki, Lucian and even Quinn can dash away, and have good damage skills for up-front damage. Sivir has a spell-shield and her Q, along with a quick burst of autos with W. The other ADC have a longer range by far, and mostly have an escape or two under their belts. Give Miss Fortune some kind of option when she gets dived on. And she will get dived on. Let her keep some Q damage.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...

Isn't there supposed to be better readability as to who will get the second shot of her Q with the update? So you'll more likely hit the target you want. If it does make Q's second hit more reliable, I can understand the damage drop off from her first hit.

I've not been keeping up with her changes since stuff fluctuates before shipping regularly. But if they do drop off the damage from Q's first shot I'll be sad. I agree with you as to what makes her fun. (She's my go to ADC when I'm getting frustrated with how bad I am. I love her Q, W and R as well, though I've not mastered her. Double up is potentially one of my favorite skills in the game because of the "mini game" aspect of it. And when you get that kill from the second shot hitting somebody running away or under the turret... oh that feels so good.) I always hoped they'd change her E when they mentioned adjusting her. It just never feels impactful unless I'm using it for vision.
