Ideas, Suggestions for maokai

I truly think that maokai is not in the best place currently compared to other junglers, espically the kind that can not only jungle but lane( lee sin, Shyvanna, vi, Aatrox, Evelyn)(or simply strong jungle champs like nocturne or rammas) I understand that there are to be some limitations with him since his kit doesn't require the most skill to execute.

Right now, the weakeness besides low damage that all tank cc champs have: Total lack of escape, heavy cost of mana on abilities forcing him to recall so much in the early game compared to other junglers like shy, leesin, who can never run out of there source to use there abilities, No shields to absorb/ignore dmg, and is not very tanky without items.

Here are two suggestions to help him out:

Sticking the ultimate to maokai, so where ever he moves it goes with him until depletion. And Buffing his base dmg/armor/mr/ms a tad to feel good about playing. Right now I feel like most junglers abuse him, he is in no way in the same shape as junglers who do tons of dmg like amumu who can be abused as well.

The ability to set his ult somewhere for his team and move on can actually be a buff for Maokai. If you are behind, but your team isn't, you can set your ult somewhere and move out of range, wait for your skills and go back in again. And in all that time your ult will be helping your team.
I keep on reading of people saying Maokai has "Mana-issue" and I must say he really really really doesn't, that is if you don't use his ult at least. And the situations where you would actually need his ult are in about mid game and until then you have at least 2 Mana items, so you can simply regenerate his Mana.
His clearing time and speed are great as they are and Maokai has the awesome ability to build almost anything he wants, as long as it gives him CDR.
His passive offers massive sustain at par with Nasus.
His early to mid game damage is actually ridiculously high.
His W allows him to chase targets to no end without needing movement speed and makes him invulnerable for the time being.
His Q is a low CD, high damage, AOE, slow and displacement spell.
The only points I agree with is him having no actual escape skill, aside from going to monsters or minions with his W, that his stats could be buffed and that he currently can only lane against certain champions, with certain builds and with a lot of skill -> He can't actually lane all to good, comparable to Rammus. But if they do get one of those poor champs they counter, they utterly destroy them. Rammus top op.
Maokai is good, but he could be better with just little amount of changes.
