@Riot: Projectiles and Wind Wall

Okay so I'm confused, as are many of the people I regularly play with and I was hoping you could answer a question for us.

What exactly is a projectile by the game's definition/mechanics?

A lot of us see things moving towards Yasuo's Wind Wall thinking that it will/will not be blocked (for instance, Vel'Koz's W and R) because it looks like a projectile but isn't defined as one or vice versa... leading to a lot of confusion.

I've seen multiple player answers but would like to have a Red come in here and actually explain the mechanic. If that's already been done, please link, or quote the post :D

Thanks!

Edit: Should I have put this under Gameplay & Strategy? :/

Well, I'm not a Red but i know its mechanics, If the say projectile comes OFF of the target say Annie Q it will be blocked, yet her W wont since it is still attached to her person. So since Velkoz W and R are still connected to his person whilst dealing damage it will not be blocked.

Hope this helped :D

Tadpoletoots is exactly right.

I am also not able to red post but it is defined as blocking things that are projectiles meaning that they must be thrown, lobbed, shot, etc. The only thing that tadpoletoots' explanation doesn't account for are things like Blitzcrank , Nautilus , or Thresh pull. All of these are also blocked because the effect only uses the actual object "Hook, hand, or anchor" while the chains connecting them to their origin are strictly used as a point of relativity to help us know where they are coming from, and where we will go if pulled. So in code they are noted as projectiles and thus will be blocked by Yasuo wall. Other things that may create confusion are things like Diana 's Q because although this in particular is disconnected from the champion it is along the ground throughout it's movement. It is blocked but I'm not sure if I agree with it. For the sake of understanding what will and will not happen I would say it's fine under that specific situation but I don't know about future champions. Things that are ranged but reside on the ground should probably have a different mechanic to them. Also I'm personally unsure on Maokai's seedling. Because on activation it is thrown. Yet, after it hits the ground it is a minion that moves on it's own direction coordinates depending on surrounding enemies. So I would expect that it should be blocked in air but not when walking.(I don't play Maokai so I wouldn't know) This posses a relative question. Why would Diana 's q be blocked on the ground, if Maokai's seedling isn't. They both are ranged and both reside along the ground. Also you could argue Elise's explosive spider-ling. I would expect that hers would also pass through even though it provides more inquisition on why Diana's does not.

All in search of more information. Hope I peeked your interest.

Projectiles are moving non-creature objects.

This means that any instant-damage spell like Lux laser and Annies W will not be blocked, they don't move, they designate an area and everyone inside gets hit. I think flying minions/Ori balls have been made an exception case and stop upon hitting the wall.

I had a very similar question although mine is more based on the logic of the situation. Velkoz's W being underneath the ground, hence underneath the windwall, and someone like Diana's Q being on top of the ground, in which would actually collide with the windwall. Here's the link to it to kind of understand more what I mean. Overall, it just doesn't make sense to me, as to why something above ground, would be able to block something happening underneath it.

Yasuo needs his wind wall and this isn't the time to nerf him after they just nerfed him lol Yasuo is famous for being able to go toe to toe with ranged because of his wind wall, the biggest problem with fighting ranged with melee is their constant pocking while you're trying to farm but with Yasuo's wind wall he can farm or get close without worrying about crazy ap pokes.

In reply to your most recent comment Zelkreai, I don't believe everyone thinks that way or will think that way after reading the post, I was making a generalization. Also there's absolutely nothing belittling about saying (people) are going to think that power is op or it should ne nerfed to take out its ability to block certain abilities, everyone knows what their own opinion is on the matter and if its not the same as mine that's fine, unless they're really touchy they couldn't care less about my generalization. It just comes down to my opinion. For some reason I couldn't reply to your reply to my comment so I just wrote this instead.
