I need help figuring out how to youtube! Am i doing anything wrong? I know i should improve my commentary a little, but anything else?

I recently managed to get my youtube channel accelerating if you will, something that happens when you reach a certain threshold of views per day/hour. To do this, I spent a massive amount of time thinking more about the potential clips I could add (we're talking hours upon hours, reaching back entire weeks before I start editing), and then proceed to drastically cut out any part which does not work even slightly. If you think that you could add a slowmo commentary part to make something even remotely funny, don't bother if you do not have something else to back it up (whether this be a voiceline or music drop or something). It helps to have high standards on what sort of moments you put up, so that a larger majority can actually laugh with you at a fail or stare in awe at an amazing play. I actually cultivated that knowledge over at least several months of slowly reviewing clips and trying to add my own spin on things. It takes time, and not everyone will want to watch it, but make it understandable to as many people as best as you can without completely gutting it for the more critical viewers.
