New to content creation, and I want YOUR opinions!

Hello summoners. I've been a League of Legends fan ever since the first day I played the game somewhere during season 1-2. When I reached diamond last year, I wanted to start streaming, making youtube videos, or some sort of content.. As I learned the hard way, it's not easy to stream from a $600 laptop with a good graphics card and that's about it. I was able to make a few youtube videos, though! This is my most recent one, and I want to improve. I need opinions. :)

Ok, some of it was good. Song was ok i guess. A couple of things you could do better.

1.) Do some music or sound effect changes when the feel or tempo of the video changes. ex. Around the 1 minute mark you cut the music and walk around doing nothing at low health for what feels like forever, then leo comes to the rescue and splatters ez. it was boring, BUT a simple change to silly music like in "bronze moments" on machinama could have spiced it up.

2.) Funny moment sound effects like the vinyl record scrape sound or something fitting in the moment, and funny comment overlays with a pause or something could do wonders. Ex. when leo saves you around 1:15-1:20 some sound effect for leo bonking ez would have been great ,with some sort of comment flashing on the screen.

You were about to get durped by Rengar at 1:44, but you cut that out. Next time leave it, make one of those sound effects or pause/zoom switch to sad music and slow roll your death, or show the death with a sound effect, then cut to some sort of relevant internet meme for 1-2 seconds then transition back to the video.

I am saying this as a video watcher, not an editor/creator. Hope i was helpful.

What editing software, recording software, and what are you're preferences when it comes to making you're videos? Try removing the overlays when recording on spectator mode, makes the video look a load better without all of that unnecessary garbage cluttering the screen. Try fooling around with some camera angles too! I'm also still really new to this stuff but I have had prior editing experiences.

This is something I made here using Fraps as my recording software, LoLSummonerInfo as my replay software, LoLCamera to help me get some cool angles, and Sony Vegas Pro as my editing software! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBfQ3Vuqa5I

As you can see the results are decent but tell me what I asked you and I will at least try to the best of my ability to help you out man. I want to help out other creators because eventually, I want to work in Youtube and see other content creators come with me. :D

I can probably talk a lot about this. First of all, the clips weren't that funny, or at least something that I would not put in my own montages. This is mostly a combination of the clip length and the actual play quality not being good enough without something else attached (music, text etc). If you want good stuff, then omit the weaker plays and go through the remaining clips with an iron fist. Don't have enough clips? Get more, and more and more until you actually have something.

Secondly, editing is fairly important to add more to your clips, but unnecessary editing that does not add anything can be disregarded (see the text pieces that appear for split seconds that can otherwise be inferred by your movements). It probably doesn't help that you're using WMM to edit (Sony Vegas is highly recommended, but After Effects can also work), but having single pieces of strong text that reinforce or emphasize the point (this includes humor and drama). As an example, I just want to point you to this point in one of my own videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-zZJFCMPeTY#t=80 The main point I want to focus on is the 'my cranberry juice' part. It works because it adds something small to the overall joke of the comeback without taking anything away from it. It should be noted however that I did not repeat this technique that much in the rest of the video, since there was less downtime between clips and the emphasis shifted away from these inside jokes. Basically, set what you want the mood to be in the clip and make the joke accordingly. Stick to this to be decent.

Thirdly, music can really make or break a video. If you want to fall into the mainstream thousands, then continue to use these techno pieces over and over again with no consideration for finding better fitting music. Otherwise you can actually start scanning through youtube to find something that might even have the slightest chance of being the best music you can find for the clip (something that I am doing as I type this right now). Don't know where to start? Search up your favorite game OST or something (don't bother with LoL music because they try too hard to fit, something that Bring it! might have more naturally), and go from there. You can even search up your favorite songs and just look through the related videos to find something (just be careful about copyright, although that's more present with actual music and artists that you find on iTunes). I REALLY dislike most of the music used for LoL montages though, so that's a very big gripe of mine. >.>

Hopefully this actually sheds some light on my own thought process when it comes to making videos from the point of view of a rising star (if my 4k+ subscribers are anything to talk about).

Crap.. So I was writing a comment, but exited out of the tab :C... ANYWAYS, I was thinking earlier about how parts of my video were more on the boring side than other parts. It instantly hit me that I should definitely leave ANY boring parts out of videos ALWAYS. There's no reason for it to be there. As for editing, I will check out some other programs including the ones listed already. WMM kinda blows. :) And music..music is going to be a tough one for me to get good at. But at the same time, it'll never be perfect either, because people like different music. That being said, there is usually better music for videos than others xD. Thank you very very much for your feedback. I've got my notepad right here, and I'm writing down my goals for future videos as I take in feedback, and next to those goals I have solutions to match them. :) I really hope every video that I make has improved quality. Thanks again, I'll be subscribing to your YouTube Channel! :)
