Look at the link, the wolf/spirit thing is totally connected to Kindred. It may not have the white on the frontal part of the wolf's head, but Rito may have changed it a bit over 7 months. It looks too small to be a full grown wolf. Like you said, they could have changed it (could even be a different animal and the concept was born from this).
The end of the video has a ton of black and whit in ti too. The spiral right at the end seems to resemble the spirals from the PBE teasers.

As tempting (and fun) as the theory is... it's not true.
the first concept for our next champion [Kindred] was created January 26 of this year.
The video with Amumu was published Jan 26th.
The art concepts for the video would have been flushed out well before then. If the art concepts had been part of Kindred's champion concepts, then Kindred's work would have needed to start a few weeks before the 26th.
I'm afraid this was just your every day ordinary spirit wolf that was following Amumu. It may be that another artist saw this ordinary spirit wolf and was then inspired to start brainstorming Kindred, but the wolf, as it was made in that video, isn't Kindred.

Meh, wolves are pretty common imagery, especially in a dark forest with things creeping in the dark and hunting you.
