Our coffee machines are automated touch screens. During the cleaning cycle a tablet is dropped in and dissolves in the water that is run through the pipes to clean them. This takes 6 minutes of running water to clean out completely. The screen displays a timer until it's finished.

Right as this begins a lady comes in and goes up to the machines. Grabs a cup and discovers she can't select the coffee she wants.

She asks me if they're down and I say yes. She throws the cup on the ground and says "you need to put a fucking sign up instead of just standing there" and walks out the door.

Which is weird because the screen tells you it's cleaning and for how long. That counts as a sign, right?

If you think you have it bad, i'm an assistant manager at walmart, i get people yelling at my customer service staff because they won't let them return stuff we saw them taking out of the fridges on camera, and we have to arrest the same people like every day

Pretty sure it wouldn't have mattered if a sign was up. She would have screamed at you asking why the coffee machine is down.

Let me tell you what they tried to tell me when I tried to dispute the perma ban on my Sky of Smiles account (I think my real original account might have been MoreIKill or something like that).

You shouldn't have said yes: You should have told her its on scheduled automated self cleaning which takes a total of 6 minutes and it'll be another x minutes before its able to serve coffee again. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but we'll do what we can.

And you say this while knowing she's doing it on purpose to make herself feel special and you a failure. Its not fair, but if you don't do it, you risk losing the potential business and then you'll get reported and fired. And, then, you'll join the low percentage of unemployed people.
