So... WoW or FFIV for PvE?

I know this is a question that's beat to death, but I want peoples' opinions, not some article that doesn't talk about all the little things that make up a game.

So, I've got League, I've got Maplestory (I got back into it yesterday (I played it like... 12 years ago), and my God the nostalgia), I've got GW2 for the holidays... but I need an MMO that's got good PVE.

To that end... which is better for PvE (raiding, dungeons, etc): WoW, or FFXIV? I like gameplay that feels rewarding while being at least moderately challenging (but I'm fine with something so hard I can't beat it, if that exists), and I like smooth, flowing gameplay rather than something that's clunky and choppy.

I hear that FFXIV has a lot of "the floor is lava" mechanics, and not much interesting going on, and I hear that WoW has a lot of soak mechanics in the latest tier and nothing interesting going on. Are those true?

And as a disclaimer: I've played WoW for 10 years, and I quit when WoD launched. I loved it that entire time but the classes were made to be super easy and got kind of boring. I'm currently playing FFXIV, at level 67, and while it seems decent, the combat seems a bit lacking.

I wish Wildstar didn't die off. I wouldn't have had to make this post then. That game was so much fun. : /

It's amazing how hard it is for people to just answer a simple question.

I like the current ffxiv better than the current version of WoW. I find that I get a lot less angry at my teams in ff than I do in wow. I typically play tanks and just find the community in ff more enjoyable.

WoW feels terrible(Boring) to play alone, and for the most part, its story got really uninteresting after a while.

I haven't gotten to level cap at ff14, but I was completely enthralled with its story and kept me going for a while till I was broke and I havent had a chance to go back to it. Its gameplay is kinda hit or miss depending on what class you pick.

I don't know much about MMOs, and I cannot justify paying a subscription so I only played the beta/level 20... But let me tell you FFXIV is the only MMO I ever got hooked on, and as some people might know, I really dislike MMORPGs in general.

So I'd say go for FFXIV

WOW has perfected raid bosses. They have literally the best scripted fights in the genre and that's why it will continue to be the most successful MMO.

ff14 raids are literally casual mode rofl.

Mythic tomb literally is harder than any content ff14 will ever have.

They're the exact same game. If you want some actual fun pve in a mmo play Black Desert

Idk about raiding in ff14, but FF14 has way, way better dungeon gameplay than WoW does.

WoW dungeon gameplay, even in M+, is basically 'zerg through AoE pulls spamming your buttons as hard as you can'.

If your gonna play maplestory it's best to play the Chinese ms2 that recently came out. all 3d looks nice. http://i.imgur.com/NxcbUnn.jpg Used to play the korean version, and yes the nx I had got removed for copyright infringement lol

When ever I log into gms it's full of people botting the maps and afk people nobody is social. It's better to just let it die. https://i.imgur.com/zd5XMtK.jpg

WoW hands down.

Every single thing in FF14 is locked behind running the mainstory quests which literally put WoW to shame... on how boring and pointless they are. Your typical quests involves talking to 21 different NPC's in 4 different cities (and skipping 15 pages of dialogue each + a badly japanified/mistranslated cutscene with bad Voice acting) then finally you get to go kill.... 3 NPC's that you can 2 shot. Then you get to talk to 4 more NPC's. 95% of the game involves going from place to place half asleep and talking to NPCs.

I gave up about mid way through stormblood content. It was easily one of the worst designed MMO's I've ever played. Even the combat is terrible and slow.

Either or. It's not what you play, it's who you play with.

Find a linkshell or guild on either of them with people you like and you'll have fun whether it be just farming crafting materials or endgame raids.

Legacy servers on WoW were announced. So if you liked Vanilla, or want to play in Vanilla, you can look forward to that.

Currently I would play FFXIV

Wow just gets to repetitive on the quests..and they kind of drag out.

FFXIV the story actually has a lot of better plot twists and character interaction of the story i'd sink my time there and also its pretty nice to see how this Game ties into other final fantasy games and also is cool to do a dungeon and fight bosses from other final fantasy's

Play Blade and Soul. It's hella fun
