Justified ban on a stolen account?

Hey there, a friend of mine stopped playing the game about 1 year ago and decided to play again with the new season & LeBlanc returning.

When he tried to log in, it didn't work or say anything, so we found out his account was stolen and transferred to Japan, but no recent games were showing in the history for months.

So he contacted support, and they confirmed it was stolen and transferred, but it was also perma-banned for toxicity apparently. Note that he had this account since season 3, and never had a ban/mute on it since, and now stolen by someone else it was banned in just a few months. The weird part is that they won't unban it and transfer it back to EU, I think that's pretty weird, to have your account taken by someone else, they are toxic and the account is banned, and after discovering this Rito won't help him get it back..

They said it was his responsibility for keeping the account safe, but how was he responsible for the guy that stole it being toxic? If it was stolen by someone that was not toxic they would have given it back?

Pretty strange, what do you think? :D

If they'd just give it back to him anyone could sell their accounts on ebay and then get them back after some time through the Riot support.

your account your responsability. when your responsability misses, aka 5 years without caring, riot, the owner of the account, protect itself by banning it.

u had your time to take care.

Let me turn this around:

All riot sees is that the account got transferred to japan without a report, then got permabanned for toxicity. Now the account owner is saying that it got hacked and he wants it unbanned. Yes riot could have better systems in place to detect account theft, but they don't. In the absence of compelling evidence that the account was stolen there is good reason for riot to assume that the player is just trying to evade a permaban.
