So, if you had every champion you could re-roll the Champion shards when a new champion comes out and receive the champion.
Riot, i notice you removed that function.
i know why you did, but it still disappoints me and makes purchasing loot crates even less of a care now.
the benefit to the players was simple: Re-roll 3 shards. get a champion. If you had all the champions and a new champ came out, just re-roll 3 shards, get the champion.
my opinion on this feature: this allowed players who have been playing longer who put time and effort in this game the ability to receive new champions at a fraction of a cost. For me being 'Loyal' and playing for many years this had made my life easy keeping up with champion releases once the loot system was introduced.
The removal, my perspective and my disapproval: all shards are not created equal so it would require different number of shards to get the BE needed to produce an equal result. example: some shards cost 90BE others are 1260BE effectively a new champion could cost between as 270BE - 3780BE due to 'luck' and the restriction on the mystery champion token requires to have 10 champions not owned to use. So you are effectively telling me i will spend the 7800BE to keep this trend of every champion or i will have to wait and may get a chance. and when i say 'wait' it means maybe 1-2 years for a discount champion due to champion release. champion shard disenchant (due to cost) now will require 7 - 87 champion shards to disenchant.
What you did to players who have jobs and actual lives outside the game. You effectively said you want your champions to be available in 2 ways.
- Spend actual money and purchase them
- Play extensive hours to receive them.
You have basically restricted my access to new champions unless i do 2 things. Playing extensive hours is not an option so we cross out option #2. So, i look at option 1. it looks horrible as well. Riot, with a swipe of some code have effectively devalued the money i put in this game and have made me not want to purchase any loot boxes in the future. Being i dont want to be pissed again at something outside my control i dont want to ever.. ever... ever... put money into a champion/box/or whatever. i know myself and i may cave to get a skin that looks really cool, but i feel it becomes maybe i should just play with what i have already and not care. When a new champion comes out i will now have to perma ban the existence of it until they are nerfed. Ultimately pissing my ban away due to your (Riot) policy of no new champion is going to be weak at the beginning policy. you effectively removed any legacy benefit. If i receive a champ shard from the box it is now very low value to me.
