My Art Teacher had told me that I'd "Never be a real artist." Despite the College student teacher copying my art works. I'd have the lowest grade in class. The problem one that you'll never hear is that your art style isn't a Western Art style. Much like the AMERICA! people it holds the same with Art. They can't grade you because they have no knowledge of it. If you apply for Art Schools you'll be looked down on perhaps not accepted because of Anime arts. If you want to go into Anime art your best with online or Traveling abroad to be accepted.
If you check out the new Stars Wars Resisstance it's Anime inspired, but disney's art is based on real people. Where Nickolodean's Art style isn't who made Avatar the last air bender.
I won't say there isn't more demand for anime art, but it's based on commission and Twitch icon's from my knowledge. I've met a few who've slammed 1000's of dollars in art school only to not be able to find a job or anyone willing to pay for their art.
For me I write and draw doing my own small comic. I don't get paid or anything, but it's what I'd fantasize of in school. Theres plenty of cool web comic places to get known though it's about building reputation though.

I mean, let's be honest, he probably had a bunch of teenage boys turning in drawings of chibi girls with eyes half the size of their heads and huge balloon breasts. Is it surprising he would get sick of it after a while?
Sounds like you either had a bias teacher or one who judged it based off a very poor anime.
The only good anime is JJBA.
