Teach A Friend Quest

First off, I'll start this off by saying I'm glad this wasn't titled, "Teach a Noob".

However, this quest just reminds me of all that we've lost. Sure, fat chance we were going to find low-leveled players legitimately anyways, but really, how would we meet such a person?

Back in the day, new players had a legitimate way of reaching veteran players. It was called a chat room. Now, I know you all haven't heard of such a thing, but yes, you could fumble your way from channel to channel, find one titled "Noob", and find other low-leveled players, along with those who wanted to help them. Sure, there were some rotten eggs, but if you wanted some help legitimately, it was plenty easy to seek the help and generally easy enough to overcome the harassment.

Now what do we have? These boards? They've only grown saltier over the years. This quest also taught me that these boards have even been watered down to have no New Player section, probably to avoid this certain harassment as well. There is legitimately no streamlined location for new player help. Sure, bot games can build up your confidence in playing games, but sometimes you want a more personal or advanced approach to learning the game. Now we've decided to encourage taking other players under your wing when... there's no place to reasonably meet for such a mentorship?

I'm not just talking about helping people, either. I personally took a number of people under my wing. A number of us made decent use of the "Noob" channel back in the day. That was taken away from me, my fellow guides to League, and all new players throughout the game, and we got whatever flavor you'd describe these boards as. It's simply not a cozy place to play anymore. Sure, advertisement and community feels safe and flashy, but there's no comfort zone to seek once that feels dull and annoying.

So, overall, I want to explain that this very quest shows exactly what went wrong with the new player introduction method of this game. Everyone shut out the new player community. Now suddenly it's being sought stronger by a one-time mission (that is exactly what people should not be seeking in a mentor), and people are seeking these boards in sections like Recruitment or General Discussion for their opportunity to get it done, as though either feels inviting to a new player. Or they're creating a smurf.

Whatever they're doing, they're not seeking what is actually best for these new players, a leaguer who simply wants to sit back a while and help a lower player as a break from the grind.

I found someone to help out in Beginner bots TT map, if that helps people any.
