Account Hacked and Banned

Hi All,

My account was banned and I was unsure why. I submitted a ticket and found out that it was due to third party software. I was fairly confused and kept trying to think of anything that could have caused the issue.

I eventually looked through my champion stats on a few websites and saw that there are a bunch of games with champions I have never played (and never owned) with averages of 19 kills a game. I am not especially good and have never had 19 kills in a pvp game.

I haven't played since 2014 at the absolute latest and was not aware of the ban until now. I don't even know when it was banned. I never shared my password and I have no idea how it was hacked.

I was told there is nothing they can do and they won't reverse the ban. I spent hundreds of dollars on RP and really want my account back. They won't tell me what third party software it is (not that it matters now - I know 100% it was hacked). They won't tell me how they evaluate to confirm if it was hacked. They just keep saying it wasn't hacked (BUT IT WAS!!)

I had another account I was playing on the last time (only level 9 or so?) and that was not banned. Maybe that could serve as evidence that my computer didn't have the software? Does anyone know how they evaluate these things? The support person was super unhelpful and wouldn't respond to my questions or provide any information. This is very disheartening - it feels like i'm being stolen from.

Any help is appreciated.

How did you even get hacked.

Ok I have said this before, but I'll bring it up again:

It seems like a stretch that someone would go to the trouble of hacking your account just to play games on it. These people have one goal in mind: cash. When a thief gets ahold of an account, they typically send messages to all of that player's friends to a fake website. Usually, they claim that giving your login information would give you a crapload of free RP. They hope that the other players fall for this so they can get their information. Now they have another friends list to do this to. More importantly, they now have that player's credit card information should it be linked to that account. It seems a little counterproductive to steal an account just to play games on it with third party software. Plus, if they were crafty to hack to get a hold of it, you'd think they'd be better about hiding said third party software while they used it.

This is why I personally am pressing X to doubt.

I did embarrassingly use a weak password for this one. I had another account (the level 9) that had a stronger password and was not compromised (or maybe it was but they didn't want it because it was only level 9?)

I've asked them to look at the IP addresses and all that. I'm not sure what else I can do to prove it wasn't me. I moved 6 hours driving distance away in June 2015 so depending on the timing of the hack/ban that may be helpful. They are just giving me no information so it's hard to tell what they need.

It seems the hacker scripted. I didn't even know what that was until looking it up. Any ideas on how to prove it wasn't me? I think I still have my old laptop if that helps (my wife was planning on trying to sell it but I think it's still in a pile somewhere).

Also worth noting, I played top when I first started playing and then switched to support. I played with three others and two of them would fight over adc. All of the hacked games were on my account as adc. I never played adc as it wouldn't make sense. I always did duo bot with my buddy as adc and would switch to top when no one was with me.

It's possible I did adc/jungle/mid here or there but unlikely. One friend is mid/jungle, one is jungle/adc, one was basically only adc, and I was top/supp. I never played adc.

Maybe that will be helpful?

If anyone has any helpful information, I'd really appreciate it. They keep saying they are certain I scripted and my account was not compromised (which is impossible because I didn't script and someone clearly played on my account). I'm asking them to look at the IPs, check to see if my account info was taken in the 2013 data breach or anything. I've given them all the friends I play with, my address history and more.

I'm worried to start a new account because they can just ban me for no reason again. Do you think this is a one-off? I'd obviously like all the real scripters/cheaters/etc to be banned. I just don't understand how they can be so certain when I know it isn't true. It feels wrong to make a new account and give them more of my money and time. I don't even think I'd enjoy playing under those circumstances.

I feel like I deserve a true review of my account considering I spent money on the game. I doubt they even looked at anything - they just put it on a timer and then say "no sorry you're banned".

At the very least, thanks to all who commented. You're at least giving me a means to vent.

Quick update: Riot seems to be hung up on the fact that the hacker didn't change my password. If they changed my password, I think i'd get the account back. The only thing they are looking at is the password.

I wasn't playing at the time for years (most likely - they won't tell me when it was hacked/banned), so the hacker didn't need to change the password.
