ADCs from a perspective of an ADC main and an Honest discussion with Boards members

Hello guys,a little intro first.

Until recently i played ADCs 100% of the time, never anything else, basically an ADC main since S1, i even thought they were kinda weak and that was my challenge in playing them, then i discovered the boards and i saw everyone complaining how OP and busted they are,but hell i never felt that way,i always saw it from my perspective, getting instakilled by Khazix Zed Yasuo Fizz Hecarim Rengar having 50% of my hp chunked by a tank like Malphite dying if you get one caught alone or CCed etc. Hell i even remember the tank meta back in S5,i literally quit during that time since every tank item was cheaper than now and gave more stats while IE and Zeal were a hefty sum more expensive than now,i mean a sunfire Jarvan could just run next to you and you couldn't do anything but die,it was pretty bad.

Of course i knew i could do damage, especially S6 S7,Lethality Jhin could do 80% of the damage in one hit,but the discussion today isn't about S6 or S7

I've seen a lot of threads and a lot of comments raging about how ADCs are OP,very often they were compared to GODS but like i said i never felt that way,so i really decided to try out some other roles to see for myself if that was the case. So what did i find out?

> Well in my personal experience i still don't believe ADCs are GODS,i feel like most people when they think of ADCs they always conveniently leave out supports in their mental picture, thread or a comment,i believe most people feel like they're OP because they do so much damage, and they do,im not denying it,while also being pretty hard to kill with a good support, but that there is the point,i don't think ADCs as a class are busted, not when you look at them separately from their babysitters, they have little or no CC,they don't build any resistances (at least not for the first 2-3 items) they (except Kaisa ) don't have any in built shields or panic buttons that give them a ton of HP or Armor, most of them don't have any burst (until late game) and no built in sustain (unless you count FFW or just getting a Vamp scepter) and im talking about Garen Trundle Aatrox DrMundo Chogath Gangplank passives or basic spells,or just Ahri Fiddlesticks Gragas Kayle Warwick and that's to name a few.

So i started playing JG and MID,especially Mages mid since i love Ranged and i also saw a lot of complaining about Mages being weak, what i found out is that i absolutely hate skillshot heavy mages,it's frustrating AF to miss all of your damage while someone right clicks you to death, but on the other hand Ahri Swain Ryze Malzahar Lux are the ones i really liked and got at least a lvl 5 mastery on most of them.

So whats my experience with these mages, from my point of view i had more HP than an ADC,i had more CC,i had more utility and more ways to help the team even if im behind. The best thing is i had a lot of damage in point and click or pretty easy to land skillshots,i mean Swain Q is just a big cone in front of him that can even go through minions,i could 1v1 more easily,i had burst so even when i had 50 hp on Ahri one good E and i could kill a squishy,i'd usually finish the game having the most damage or at least being 2nd.

I feel like Mages and ADCs are balanced around different stuff thats all,a Mage can usually burst someone down pretty hard, while also bringing CC and utility to the team and being sort of hard to kill cause of items like item 3157 item 3027 item 3040 item 3165 item 3151 item 3116 while an ADC scales better into the late game, dealing more damage while also having the most constant flow of damage, that being Auto attacks which cannot be dodge ofcourse.

In the JG i played MasterYi XinZhao Shaco all of which could bring a lot of damage to the team, especially YI,while also having decent surviveability due to their kit,i feel like i could influence the game a lot playing JG,getting dragons, herald, killing laners, getting my team mates kills etc. While also being a substantial damage threat myself.

Now all this being said,i realized the benefits of playing an ADC

-A lot of damage late game

  • Lifesteal is strong AF and can mitigate a thousand or more damage in a single team fight
  • Dedicated support can help you a lot (this works both ways,a troll or a noob supp can just feed and get you into trouble and make you die) -90% of your damage literally can't be dodged
  • You don't have to take a single hit in a team fight if all goes well (same goes for most mages though)
  • Never appreciated how much damage actually is a 400-500 damage crit, not to mention if you have RFC + Shiv you can crit for 1k first auto -You can just keep on killing,no need to worry about mana or cds, just keep going (though this goes for Yasuo MasterYi Katarina aswell but basically every ADC can just keep going if you don't stop him)
  • You help take turrets and objectives faster

But even with all these benefits, and i do agree ADCs are strong,i still woldn't consider them GODLIKE,they deal damage, thats their function in the team,i wouldn't say Tanks are godlike cause they Tank damage and are also crucial for your teams success,Assassins can make the enemy team FF at 20 with how strong they can get when fed with just item 3142 item 3147 and mages can dish out a lot damage themselves, while also having CC and Utility

So i genuinely ask, what makes ADCs,and i mean just them, not ADC and their support, so GODLIKE?

Lets keep it real. Its not adcs its support thats broken with their 50 million shields damage reduction and large aoe heal. Nerf aupport items. If ur wondering im a jungle main and thats my opinion.

Adc's are broken in damage alone. They are extremely fragile but make up for that by being the most important character on the team. They do the highest DPS and are only slightly below burst champions in burst. (Talon does about 3k-3.5k damage in 2.5 seconds. Adc's with static shiv can hit probably 2.5-3k in the same time frame) they are balanced in the sense that they die extremely fast, but are overpowered in the sense that everyone else on the team is best used to make sure the adc lives. If you, as anyone on the team, can choose between keeping the adc alive, or killing any member of the enemy team (excluding the adc) it's almost always better the keep the adc alive. And factor in how disgustingly broken supports are right now, it leads to botlane being the only important lane.

Everyone on the map wants to kill the adc because you win if you do. However you also want to keep your adc alive the longest. So late game is literally a balance between killing their adc and keeping yours alive. Nothing else matters in a fight (or at least matters far less).

Damage is too high across the board so ADCs can kill anything that can't instantly jump on them before it even reaches them. Plus Riot keeps giving ADCs utility to go with their hyper carry damage for some reason.

There's a reason the game has become gangbang botlane on repeat.

My only problem with ADC's is that they are apparently burst mages now early-mid game. Getting chunked from 100% to about 35% by abilities in 2 seconds in lane and then finished off with autoattacks. It doesn't feel right. When I say this I have Kai'Sa, Varus, and perhaps a couple others in mind.
