No one is actually asking for a hand out

Saw a Rioter comment on a post where he classified people's demands as hand outs (as in demanding something of unreasonable value). I was puzzled as I've never seen one of these demands. So let's get real here: Obtaining IP in this game takes ages. When someone has dumped 30-40k+ IP on runes that translates to a lot of hours played. Buying runes provided people with a sense of progression. The new system evens out the differences (which is a good thing, don't get me wrong), but completely invalidates the effort these people have put into your game. Classifying this frustrating notion as "asking for a hand out" is an insult. No one's asking for a full IP refund or 10 skins. Anyone with a brain understand why Riot can't do that. HOWEVER, this does not mean you cannot make one or two skins OR something of equal worth for this special occassion and give to the players who's been here for who knows how long. It would cost you next to nothing and would provide people with a sense of being appreciated. Heck, even a special border or something of the sorts would be enough.

I do believe asking for a little something is MORE than reasonable. It's not really just a matter of appreciating your long-term players, it's also to respect that fact that people have spent a countless amount of hours to obtain runes and try out different playstyles only to get their efforts wiped. Simply replacing it with another system without giving anything noteworthy in return goes against my basic sense of morality.

So ya, just my 2 cents.

Asking for a skin (with an RP cost) on the basis that you are a long-time player is textbook handout-asking. You're trying to use the runes remastered update as a reason to get free stuff. Custom boarder? Maybe. But I'd rather not have one

I think a percentage return rather than flat is more than fair and they should change it up to be that way. 40-50% would mean those of us that bought 800+ IP runes and 2000+ IP quints won't get cheated. Riot is just saying that because in their eyes they are being reasonable since they need to make sure there isn't too much return of IP so people will still buy new champs with RP or something...

Watch yourself now.

SOME people are asking for full refunds, SOME people are asking for 10 skins (and more).

unlocking all champions for long time players would be pretty fair imo there's no reason it should take 5 years to get all the characters unlocked that is RIDIC

gonna have to stop you right there saw all the uproar there was because there were no rewards for the old honor system (who already gave out stuffs back in the days IIRC)? Then all the people who were complaining because all they got was icons they were never going to use? Yeah, no. A special border won't calm the horde. Doubt a ±1350 RP skin for a champion most of them doesn't play will too. (You'll see them complaining: "I bought 2000 RP Worth of rune pages alone! All I get is a shitty skin that's half the price?!") People are gonna keep complainin' no matter what, unless they get unreasonable rewards. But yeah, 300 IP for quints is... cheap. They talked about 30-40% for runes bought during past seasons, and 100% for runes that were recently bought. That was fair, kinda. What happened to that?
