Can we get a buff to Hybrid Kai'Sa

According to the latest dev update, Kai'Sa has fallen off slightly with the recent crit changes. I think this is a perfect opportunity to change something that has always bothered me about Kai'Sa's build variety.

Generally, there are two Kai'Sa builds: Full AD/crit, and AP. There isn't really an in-between, and many players recommend never to upgrade your W at all unless you are going for full AP. It's generally frowned upon to pick up an AP item just to evolve your W, and I'm not really satisfied with that.

I understand the reason behind it. When you go AD/crit, you are committing to fighting in close quarters. You want as much gold as possible to go towards improving your autoattacks and damage at close range. Your W simply isn't as useful for AD Kai'Sa. It's great for long-range poke and harass or marking someone for your ult, but AD Kai'Sa really doesn't need that often enough to invest another completed item to get it when that gold would get them more damage as an AD/crit item.

It's great for AP Kai'Sa, since you do want to hang back and poke, and burst people with your combo when they get close, not go for extended trades.

I would love to see some changes come to make it more worthwhile to go for a hybrid build as Kai'Sa where you shoot to evolve all three of your abilities.

I think the main offender is the W upgrade. It simply isn't useful to you when you've also built AD/AS. Your other abilities want you to stay close and kite your enemies around, while your W wants you to hang back and throw out skillshots. They don't mesh. The challenge would be to buff hybrid Kai'Sa without buffing full AD or full AP Kai'Sa and making those builds even stronger.

I propose that instead of an extra Plasma stack, the evolved W should slow the target it hits by 5% for every stack they have when applied, decaying over the duration of the stack (or what the stack duration would have been if the W detonates the plasma stacks), which is usually 4 seconds. This version would be useful for both full-AP Kai'Sa and for hybrid builds, as the slow would help you chase, kite, or keep your distance from enemies. The evolved W would be great for getting to enemies who are just out of reach, slowing down an aggressor, or keeping someone from running away while you unload attacks into them, so you're rewarded for using your W in concert with your other abilities and auto attacks, rather than hanging back and spamming it. AP Kai'Sa, who plays more like a poke mage, would also appreciate the slow, as it would let her keep her enemies at bay and maybe even set up kills for her and her teammates, but it would be best on a Kai'Sa looking to engage as well as retreat, i.e., a hybrid playstyle.

Other than that, a bigger change that might be fun would be to allow her to evolve her R when she has evolved all of her other abilities. This would be an buff for hybrid Kai'Sa specifically, as neither the full AD nor the full AP build would have access to this upgrade. The evolution could be something like a second cast (perhaps with smaller rings than the first cast, so she has to engage even harder with the second cast), extra armor/MR/on-hit damage while the shield is active, or possibly let her stack up more shields as she deals damage. Whatever it is, being able to evolve her R once she evolves everything else would be a great incentive to build as more of a hybrid than strictly AD or AP.
