Lol, yeah. You are gonna need to get an early gank if you want to stay in lane against Jayce. But he needs to be a heavy damage dealer or else he won't be able to play properly. His damage is there but for a top lamer he is very fragile. He is a good duelist but a subpar team fighter. He functions kind of like an assassin if he charges in or a support if he stays back.
But if there is more than one person charging in at him then he really is dead meat. Get your jungler to camp your lane or else your laning phase is over. He falls off mid game if you can pick him off enough times. Or you can pick something that is manaless, has wave clear, innate health regen or multiple gap closing abilities. You will not be able to out trade him with most Mets top laners.

I could only farm when Jayce wasnt around. I could be under tower because Shockblast does stupid amounts of DMG and i couldnt outtrade him because he would just switch to Melee or kite, A character like jayce who has the ability to kite, burst and snowball of 1-2 kills shouldnt be a thing. Anti tank, anti melee and has a gap closer to catch-up with prey its ridiculas
